I'd like to see that written into the deal....

Clause # 1 - David Asper must "F-Off"

Clause # 2 .....

And so on.

:-)

Breaking News:

From the Winnipeg Free Press

WINNIPEG — The province has called a 10 a.m. press conference on Wednesday at Canad Inns Stadium to confirm its plan to allow a new football stadium to rise at the University of Manitoba before David Asper’s Creswin Properties assembles the upscale mall it originally needed to fund the project.

The Selinger government, the City of Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Football Club and Creswin have reached a deal that will see the province financing to kickstart a $135 million stadium and U of M recreation project that has been delayed due to Creswin’s inability to secure tenants at The Elms, a shopping mall planned for the current site of Canad Inns Stadium.

Not everyone drives a Rolls. You drive what you can afford eh.

I'd like to see a breakdown of the $42 M that is being said was required to fix the existing stadium.

I am sorry great great grandkids.. I know its difficult paying off 2010-2011 debt, but we really wanted a stadium, who cares that its already gone and been replaced two times, you still need to pay this year debt off for me.

WE gaurentee him the loan. HE gets 20 months to get his elms together and IF it fails WE sell the land, use it towards the loan and the prov uses the tax revenue from whomever we sold the land to to pay off the rest of the loan.

WHAT exactly is Asper bringing to the table?

No...they won't.
Because by then, they'll realize that forcing the tax burden onto the people was a violation of human rights, and give millions of dollars back to the people as way of compensation for the horrid act committed generations ago.

Dean. Selinger said the money was being loaned to the Bombers and not Asker.

(The Bombers will then give it to Asker anyway), but the spin suggests to me that this DEAL STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN.

When the fcuken Premier of the province starts to spin the truth (lie) we are in deep doodoo.

The only reason that Didher and Sellingher will be remember in 50 years is because we'll still be paying off their bills.

We need a new stadium like we need the World's Biggest Museum depicting Human Atrocities!
Is this going to be a world class football stadium or a North End structure?

Apparently, the financing is really be underwritten by the Isreel bonds guy! For every new stadium or museum they build, they will also build new Isreeli housing on so-called Palestinian land!

Yeah, that's nuts. If we're going to pay for the new stadium and finance it using the land at polo park, just cut Asper out already. Or just open up the bidding to everyone now, get rid of the team transfer of ownership, and solve this whole thing really quick. As it stands now I don't see there to be any reason why Asper's attached to this deal over anyone else. If he's not bringing anything open up the process and whoever can pay back that $75M and fund whatever additional costs are required in this has first rights to the land agreement at Polo Park. If Asper comes through first, he can go forward with the deal, but if anyone else beats him to it, it's theirs. Unless there's a massive part of this agreement that isn't clear, this seems like it should just be an offer from the Province to make sure the stadium goes ahead, but it should be open for others to bid on instead of being tied to any one developer. In that way they have a lot better chance of actually getting a good deal out of it and if someone comes forward with retailers already on board to rent space and is willing to put up cash to repay the loan in order to get ownership of the space, there's no reason we should turn them away.

Better yet, why doesn't the fcuken Bomber Board get off their collective arses and form a committee to hire a manager, or whatever, that could oversee the building of the retail crap needed to sustain the Bombers forever. Simple.

Don't these Board memebers have a brain?
