A statement like this from the province concerns me greatly....

Province of Manitoba spokeswoman Angela Mathieson says there is no delay.
"At this point in time, tenders have been issued and they'll start construction as soon as decisions are made," said Mathieson. "I don't know why anyone would give an exact date for the beginning of construction. This isn't an exact science. It'll start when it starts."

WTF??? Since when isn't construction an exect science?

To me, this clearly indicates that this deal was rushed through to put off any criticism and to stop any due dilligence that is happening.

I've said it from the begining, There is nothing wrong with the current stadium it could easily last 10 more years. That would have given various movers and shakers time to put in some well thought out stadium bids.

The original $115-million price tag for a new stadium to be built at
the University of Manitoba could be low and the partners are haggling

Let Ledohowsky have another crack at it. Maybe get Sammy to have a referendum and ask if the winnipeg tax payer is willing to have a 1% tax on goods and services for a few years to pay for a proper stadium with attached water park and hotel.

Why do these pinheads in government stand in the way of people who can and would get things done right the first time?

I wonder why any building that deals with the ASPER family in some way DOES NOT take into account the potential for cost overruns. Yet every other building on the planet the plan always includes cost overrun estimation.

Not quite Deank. But most do seem to be able to get things done on budget. Someone mentioned a bait and switch scenario. Cancel the project. Give others an opportunity. And stop the fricking games.

sellinger should never have stepped into this crap. There would be 45 days from now and the creswin deal would fall through. They would be on the hook for giving the WFC $10 million as part of their guarantee and we could go back to the drawing board.... oh wait thats right.. that report came out that showed the $52 million needed to fix up the place was actually only $18 million because $34 million was in SUBSTANIAL UPGRADES not fixes... why gee lookee here we have an extra 10 million to spend...leaving only a mere $8 million in public money needed to extend the stadium 20 years and give us time to do this deal properly.

Okay, NOW I am convinced this deal is a dud. FFS, I would rather see nothing built than a half-ass stadium that will be the laughing stock of the CFL. Downsizing, especially seating capacity, should not be an option. Where are we; Thunder Bay??? No need for that sh1t. I too say cancel it until all specifications, or a better deal, can be achieved.

But at least we will have a 1.5 million dollar hole dug. Wont that be awesome?
