Curious Pav, you sound like you fully agree with the CTV analysis of tonight's events...

Somewhat yes he has kissed (Stephen) himself to netherland in Quebec for good no matter what he gives them now . This was a time to paint yourself as the underdog and get people on your side he was very poorly handled . This is why I really do not believe in the system the way it is we in the west are not as important as the east , never have been never will be .

I learned this in the Days of working on Lloyds campaigns and the elections that followed . So once I was a good Liberal but that is gone and no one has proven worth my time since.

I just this moment heard an ad (from a coalition support group/union) supporting the coalition. The thing I find astounding is these groups ranting that the government has not got the job done. This government was just elected in October. Additionally they've not yet announced their 2009 budget (plan) and they are being labeled as "not getting the job done".

This ad in particular suggested the government has done nothing to protect jobs. Short of throwing tens of billions of dollars at "some industries" and "infrastructure" (which was done I understand) what more can be done?

The Bank of Canada is independent no?
The price of oil is beyond his circle of influence no?
The housing market has been super-heated for so long now is there really any hope of extending that?
Is there any guarantee that the Big Three will be any more solvent were Canada to throw billions there?
Do Canadian banks need rescuing?

So what can be done? I say cooler and saner heads need to prevail to allow Canada to ride out the storm. A coalition propped up by the Bloc simply cannot "save" Canada.

About the only things that the Liberals can organize is phone calls to newspapers...it only takes a few people to make a lot of stink. No biggy imo.

It is funny how all the talking-heads are so expert in their own minds but usually are so full of crap.
The GG will prorogue parliament later this morning imho, and the coalition will fall apart before Christmas.

I have talked to several NDPers that helped in two different campaigns this passed one. They all said the same thing.. if this goes to election, they WONT be helping out in the next campaign and WONT be voting either.
heh.. and no FT... you dont know these ones.
me thinks the coalition members need to actually talk to some of thier people, instead of just assuming they know what the people want.

Like everything that has come out of the Liberals since Dion took over, this "coup/coalition" has not been well thought out. It looks like it was written on the back of an envelope on the way to court.Smile

The amateur Dion is full of Hot Air eh? I heard a radio report this morning that suggested Dion's taping crew were students. Further, when Duceppe challenged Dion on his performance Dion responded "he was not used to being in opposition".

Ooohhh, scary boys and girls.

Parliament has be prorogued.

A non confidence vote in January will result in an election. YAY.

Actually, i Like this. The Conservatives now have some time to see what will happen in the USA. Why should Canada throw 30 billion at the auto sector if the USA does not. That would be like throwing 30 billion in to a black hole.

The Conservatives should stand up, put their best budget forward. Do not be afraid of the separatists or the liberal/ndp coalition and suspend tax payer funding for votes. And Finaly call the bloc's bluff by holding a national referendum on Quebec's place in Confederation. Then put the ball in their court. And say your turn to decide, Stay or Leave. Then make a law making it treason to have political party who's main objective is to split up Canada.

Then we will see how the people of Quebec really feel about sovereignty when they see the actual financial burden they face to be sovereign. They will vote to remain Canadian.

That would be true even if the US did also.
