Not likely. They were Canada first.

Of course. We could trade it to the States for a small piece in a sunny climate...say Florida. Tell them there's oil on it.... Very Happy

Something I posted on Face book.

FYI:
73.8% of voters did not vote for Dion and the liberal party.
81.8% of voters did not vote for Layton and the NDP.
90% of voters did not vote for the Bloc.

61.9% of Voters in Quebec did not vote for the Bloc.
100% of Voters out side of Quebec did not vote for the Bloc.

100% of all voters did not vote for a coalition of any kind.

The liberals got 77 seats and the NDP got 37 seats. Total of that is 114 seats.
The Conservatives won 143 seats which is 29 seats more than the Liberal/NDP coalition.

Therefor: There can only be one reasonable way to resolve this and that is to have another election. An election that the NDP and Liberals can state in it that should the Conservatives get another minority that they would form a Coalition with support from the bloc. Let the voters of Canada decide.

As for Dion. I just laugh at him, what a pathetic excuse for a man that he has to ask for Bloc support, something in which he spent most of his political career speaking against. Good job Stephan "hypocrite" Dion. I wonder what else you have lied about.

It is a power grab orchestrated by Comrade Jack Layton. Plain and simple.

Good observations. I too have come to look at Dion as a very pathethic figure of a man who will not be remembered well.

But, I'd still like him to remain as leader of the Liberassholes.

OTTAWA, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The political crisis that shut down Canada's Parliament benefited the governing minority Conservative government in poll results published Friday.

A Strategic Counsel poll done for The Globe and Mail newspaper indicated the Conservative Party remains at the top of the standings with 45 percent support if an election were now. The Liberals were behind in second place at 24 percent and the socialist New Democratic Party at 14 percent.

The national poll had a 3.1-percentage-point margin of error.

An Ipsos-Reid poll conducted for the Canwest News Service found 46 percent support for the Conservatives, 10 percent higher than before October's federal election. A party official who asked not to be identified said the party's own polls were showing similar results.

The Liberals, NDP and separatist Bloc Quebecois formed a coalition last weekend with the goal of voting down Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government based on its vagueness in dealing with the global economic crisis.

Thursday, Harper sought and won a suspension of Parliament from Governor General Michaelle Jean until Jan. 26. Afterward, Harper called for less political posturing and more cooperation among the four parties to get a budget in place for Jan. 27, which would be the quickest time in Canadian history for any governing party.

Canadians would rather have another federal election than see a coalition government headed by Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion take power.

That's according to a poll released Friday by COMPAS for Canadian Business magazine.

Nearly 70% of the 505 Canadians surveyed said they prefer to go to the polls again.

On Thursday, Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean agreed to the Prime Minister Stephen Harper's request to shut down Parliament; however opposition parties are still threatening to bring down the Conservative government at the first opportunity.

Hopefully, the "coalition" will be careful to not defeat the next budget just because they can. Canadians will punish them by not giving them a majority of the seats.

And why does it have to take so long to change a party leader? Use technology to allow e-voting. Have the candidates create websites where their platforms can be read and analyzed, then call for an e-vote two weeks. If we can have a Federal election campaign in what, 37 days, surely they can pick a new leader in two weeks.

Good point. Excellent point actually.

That said, look at the candidates. What flake is next? Rae, an NDPer turned Liberal, frickin near destroyed Ontario. Ignatieff? This deep thinker spent the majority of his life living and working outside Canada, returning only to run for the leadership of the Liberals to become Prime Minister.

There is a real dearth of quality statesmen with character in Canada.

Am I wrong in my observation that the younger they are in Ottawa, the worse they behave? Seems that way to me. Respect doesn't seem to be shown the way it was a generation or so ago.

Just say'n....

I'm willing to bet they acted like jerks in parliament every bit as much then as they do today. But you were there J2F. What was Parliament like in the 1900? 1920? 1940? Rosen - what was it like in the 1800's???

Respect is gone course then you looked up to them now we scorn them and we get what we ask for . The parties have taken center stage not the electorate.

No one in their RIGHT mind would want to be one of the clowns in Parliament. There are probably thousands of people in Canada that could run the country better than every PM we have ever had. But they are all smart enough to know not to get into politics.

There are a number of MPs and MLAs in our current government that have held true to thier morals, that bring honour to their positions. unfortunately they're few and far between.
Leader of the Manitoba Liberal party is one. If everyone could bring as much respect and honour to the positions as him, damn would our government be nice.
Too bad his fiscal policy aint up to snuff too Smile
