I would say so.

Ask 35000 bomber fans when they exit the stadium after a win and you will probably get close to 35000 yeses. But that is not exactly a scientific study.
Push that poll to a more scientific stufy of all of Winnipeg.

I doubt the support would be more then 5-10%

so what do you figure, pandering to a small minority for what reason?
if you piss off 90-95% of the population, how long you gonna stay elected?

I really dont think anyone involved in this has a risk of not being re-elected because of this.

Never mind the fact that it wont be until MAYB 2012 before we play a game in it and there will be civic, provincial and federal elections before then.

isnt that a hoot? HELP US HELP US HELP US the stadium is falling apart we need a new one NOW.. not later RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

oh um never mind we can wait for another 4 years.

I believe that the lustre of the Asker Empire being behind this wonderful deal is wearing off with the realization that the Askers are Welfare Bums of the Highest Order and are third rate business persons. Their empire has been lost, or isn't anyone paying attention to the Canwest Debacle.

I don't know if you'll find any construction project that more than maybe 30% of the city strongly want. People who aren't using something are normally pretty indifferent. But I also don't know if you'll find more than a very small minority who are actually opposed to the idea.

The Sun's comments...so far 3 against ...0 for. (Okay mine doesn't count eh.)

The Freep's are just weird comments.

It is interesting to read Asker's comment about the financing...

"I'm not going to discuss the economics of the deal," he said.

Asper also said he doesn't fear competition from Shindico's future commercial development at the former Winnipeg Arena site or the IKEA-led big-box development planned for the Tuxedo Yards.

yeah.. sure buddy... you keep believing that...

but the best line..

"
Every year the team continues to play out of Canad Inns Stadium will cost the club $150,000 to $200,000 in repairs and maintenance, plus more losses stemming from fans who refuse to attend the 56-year-old ballpark, said board chairman Ken Hildahl."

yeah...RIGHT!... isnt; every game pretty much a sell out?

A large portion of the money for the stadium is coming from Asper. Whats the big deal? What's it like to be so bitter against all forms of progress?

If you guys ran the city it would be a carbon copy of Winnipeg circa 1968. With no new buildings, arenas, stadiums,or museums. Except maybe the roads won't have potholes.

Actually very little is coming from Asper, he does not have as much money in Creswin as you think.

BUT more to the point. When this all began Asper DEMANDED 80 million or there was no way it could work. Not asked for, DEMANDED. He basically rubbed people the wrong way right from the start and that is his fault. His deal and chance to do this should have died with that orginal plan.

He just keeps being given more and more and more rope, its ridiculous how much leeway he has been given.

If everyone's against it, why is he getting so much rope?
