I have looked on the internet and cant seem to find it. I seem to recall that as part of the announcement for the U of M facility everything was contingent on the proposed retail space having its major tenants secured by X date.

Anyone remember what X date was?

Looking at Blueandgold.ca it seems this might be September? Does that ring a bell with anyone? Also, has anyone heard how the search for tenants is going? Is this stadium and such going to be a go or not?

I expect it is. But things have been very quiet for some time. I seem to recall hearing they'd received some interesting inquiries...

I seem to recall him saying that its two completely different businesses and it does not matter how the TVs/Newspapers are doing.

Which makes sense to a point.

you have to think that retail business is not doing so well right now too... otherwise there would be more money available for advertising.

I know that they are two completely different businesses but money is money, and I doubt that he has all this cash himself to do the stadium deal.

I remember it being a requirement that the space at Polo Park needed to be developed/rented for the project to go through.

I can't wait until construction on the new Stadium starts. I know it will be located on the corner of University Cres and Chancellor Matheson Dr. They are also relocating the Southwood Golf Course, and using the land to build condos. The area leading into the University from the North should look drastically different in 5 years...

So will Regina, a city significantly smaller than our beloved, out-do Winnipeg and build a domed stadium? God, I hope not, despite the fact that a gov't study says it's feasible and the best option.....

Interesting. Football is best played in an open-air facility. Let them go domed and quietly envy our new stadium.

Regina is a better football area than Winnipeg, continually selling out more seats than Winnipeg. Their beer costs only $2.50 per bottle and on football days there are no D.U.I. charges! lol

I think a domed stadium in Regina would be great. I also don't think it will happen.

It's more concern than anything else, man. If hickville Regina builds a bigger and better venue than what Winnipeg has, there could be a chance that larger venues will bypass Winnipeg for Regina. That is what would really concern and piss me off.

You asked; I answered. It's the way I feel, that Winnipeg deserves better venues, roads, building, transportation systems, etc. than any city that is very small compared to Winnipeg.
