" It is amazing how their press can attack our media for sticking their noses in American politics."

And yet when any american journalist anywhere on the planet is even sneezed at... an armed invasion ensues...

To be fair, they don't comment on our politics very much, if at all...probably because most Americans have only a vague idea of where Canada is located.

Won't matter much, Canada is currently negotiating a free trade agreement with the EU. It will mean stiff competition but I think Canadians are up for it. As long as what ever govt in power at the time does not do anything dumb like Up taxes for companies and regular people.

Hmmmm...
Warning: our "GST" is at 20% (10% on food).
I'd stay away from European free trade...

This was started in the "My Agenda" thread...but I think it could be/should be moved here:

Someone was discussing the "Green Party" and how they are more communist/socialist than "Green".

They cited something from the GP website...but I can't find it. Can a link be provided?

I've browsed their site pretty thoroughly now, and don't see anything that indicates what was mentioned...I've in fact found the opposite of that in most places.

I'm not a big "GP" supporter...but I won't dismiss a party unless I understand their philosophies as THEY state them (nor should anyone)...and would like clarification on this.

Thanks.

Indeed.
I have to disagree with the photo's caption that says he was...
"...espousing extreme Christian views"...
Nothing Christian about his views at all imho.

Pavolo, while the GST may be unpopular and it may appear to be a windfall it is not. What many folks don't realize is there were high hidden taxes on manufactured goods. I remember some of the products the company I worked for were collecting 13% in taxes. On other products we collected 7% I believe. When the GST came in those taxes were no longer collected.

Oil, yeah. But not just from us hard-done-by Canadians. All Canadians profit from every single barrel pumped out of the ground.

O we do and we pay for it with a tax we did not have before on fuel . It is here to stay as there is no goverment that can kill one tax after they start them . I just was pointing out what a cash cow it is for them the Federals that is.

LOL.. I just have to shake my head.

Everyone has their panties up in a bunch over a speech by Harper in 2003. It just goes to show you, plagiarism is rampant in the information age.

I wonder how many political leaders actually write their own speeches? I'd be willing to bet NONE, why else would they hire speech writers, spin doctors, etc...

I laugh hard when I saw the Plagiarism that Biden got caught for. Plagiarism al la Biden

heh... a little chuckle last night when they were showing the party supporters outside the debate place just before the debate.

Sea of blue in one spot.
Sea of orange in another.

And a sea of Red and green mixed together..

yup... not going to hurt them at all. I wonder if the Liberals will even get one seat?

I'm colour blind, which means I have trouble telling red and green apart, but it sounds like a lot of people are having the same problem these days.

A vote for Green is a vote for Blue.

The debate certainly will muddy the waters for those undecideds on the left. I am personally quite happy that May is in there to confuse them further.

"WTF is he thinking"

I think its fairly clear that he is thinking that hey...this split into two parties, do some infighting, do some leadership squabbling and then form a new party under new leadership.. worked for the Conservatives and made all their past sins be forgiven... maybe it can work for us liberals too!
And lord know the Liberals have a ton of sins to be forgiven.
