By Jove I think you're right! The first year anyway. BUT, were that team very successful right out of the gate you can bet they'd forget the Jets and chant Go Bears Go...

People beat their chests now, but I think as soon as the team comes back they'll either get caught up in the excitement, or convert quickly after being looked upon as a little bit strange for holding on to the name.

How about the Winnipeg Polar Fleece...since that's most likely what's going to happen to Winnipeg from the NHL.

Why is that oh negatron?

not trying to be negative...just realistic Wink.

And, personally...while the quality of the NHL playing MIGHT be better than the AHL...I really don't see a benefit in bringing them in here.

Considering about 10% of the current Moose team plays NHL games anyway (for Vancouver)...the only benefit in play quality would be a perhaps faster game, with slightly more skill?

But is that really worth doubling (or tripling) the cost of a ticket? Making the cost to attend a hockey game out of reach for many families? And if you've been to a Moose game, you know the family tickets are what keeps them alive...those kids who are playing hockey and are there to see the "pros". But who, if the NHL comes in, will not be able to attend a game (or few) in a season because the costs will be too high for their family.

Now if the NHL could bring a team back here, and keep the ticket prices (and vendor prices) reasonable...then I'm all for it.

It's clear you've never attended an NHL game in person AA. It's night and day. I've attended a few Meese games. They are boring with a capital B. Comparing an AHL game to an NHL game is comparable to comparing a CFL game with an NFL game.

Minimum Moose ticket is in the $25 area. Average ticket price is in the $34 area.

There are teams in the NHL that have plenty of $25 tickets. Seat location would be the prime difference.

Go watch an NHL game live then come back and tell us the difference in quality MIGHT be better than the AHL...

Just having the upper bowl open totally changes the atmosphere of a moose game at the MTS centre.

No matter what you may call the team, the fans already chose, and Go Jets Go, will be the only chant heard during the games.
(...and eventually, We're Number One!).

I've been to about a 1/2 dozen of each NHL & AHL games.

About the only thing I noticed that was different was the AHL games were a bit slower (or seemed it)...but the NHL games were definitely not worth twice the ticket price.

Having been to several NHL games since the Moose came in to existence, it's night and day for me, and far worth the double price.

I look at it from the other side of the fence. Is hockey that 5 times slower and sloppier than the NHL worth HALF the ticket price? Wink Not to mention outside of a core few, the lineup is constantly in a state of flux!

I think the sloppiness is a byproduct of the revolving door of callups/calldowns, etc. There just never seem to be enough bodies sticking around long enough to form great chemistry.

I can't imagine coaching at this level.

Alot of brawls, also...
Very little hockey to watch.
Sloppiness? Ask Dean, oops, watch Dean, as he swallows down EIGHT Big Mac's in less than 30 seconds...
lol!

I guess the NHL is well rehearsed to do a good show and not leave anything to chance with millions at stake.

So that's the difference? Rehearsals?

It would be nice to have a Moose-Senators back-to-back challenge, just to see the difference between the leagues.

bettman and his cronies are icewholes. This is truly a process of trying to turn a sows ear into a silk purse. There have even been rumours the price will be dropped substantially. How counter-productive is that?
