As a player, I would be getting paid millions of dollars. Also, I would realize that being traded/relocated is part of the job, and because they are paying me like a king, I will go where ever I'm told to go, and not whine, b1tch and complain like a big crybaby because I can't wear short in January to my hockey game.

I have zero sympathy for this millionaires. Did you hear what Bryz and Belanger had to say about Winnipeg? Unbelievable levels of ignorance spewed out of their mouths and into the presses.

Shut up and do what you are told, or find a new career.

nothing to do with what you wear or whatnot. Having the entire team BOOED but 1 million people in the hopes they fail... so we can get them.. Thats stupid.

put it this way

would you tell a woman she was ugly, stupid and smelled funny in the hopes of dashing her self confidence so she leaves her husband for you?

That's not what we're doing! No one is calling them ugly!

We're hoping their abusive marriage fails so we can show how a real man treats a team.

I will boo certain players when some of them call Winnipeg a shithole.

They are PAID VERY WELL to deal with having to be traded to different location. That is a part of your job.
Don't like it, then get a new job where you won't be traded.

you just dont get it.

WHY would any player want to come to Winnipeg if they are being booed and their opponents are being cheered on just so that they franchise fails?

Boo them because they are an a$$
Boo them because they suck.

But dont boo them, hoping they suck so the team fails and they come here.

retarded and counter productive is what that is.

DeanK, I get what you are say, I just don't agree with the way you are approaching it.

Agree to disagree, I guess.

And again, any player that doesn't want to be here and whines and bitches and complains about it, we don't want you anyways.

Florida awaits.

Bettman sure is fighting hard to keep the Coyotes in Arizona...I don't recall him fighting at all to keep the Jets in Winnipeg.

I'm not surprised. I would be doing the same thing if I was him.
1. I hate making a mistake. I hate admitting I made a mistake even more.
2. It is a big market to walk away from.

I wonder if things would have been different if the economy would not have tanked.

The Coyotes lost money, big money, each and every one of their 15 years in the desert. The number most bandied about is $30~ million a year. This year they are rumoured to have lost a whopping $40~ million.

Most of those years in Phoenix were some of the most prosperous years ever.

If if's and butt's were peanuts and nuts...

I'm not sure that's why some of the complaining players don't want to come here. I think a number of them have no idea what the place is like beyond the rumors and stereotypes of our city are coming from people across the country. Edmonton also has a pretty bad rep in the NHL about players not wanting to sign or play there. Not sure if its entirely true, but in the past, some pretty big contracts have been offered to some just "above average" players to sign there. When you've got NHL cities in the west to play in like Vancouver ( beautiful ), the three California cities , Phoenix ( good weather ) and Calgary ( mountains ) , the others don't look as good to them. However, none of the cities between the coasts in the US are all that great either physically. Smile

Guys like Belanger and Bryzgalov are mouthpieces anyway. Bryzzy has only played in hot climate cities in the NHL, besides being in Cincinnati during his stint in the minors. I don't think he'd be altogether happy being traded to Minneapolis or somewhere like St.Louis...etc. Belanger was pretty much hoping the franchise would be moved to Quebec City. Problem with that is , they'd have nowhere legitimate to play until an upgraded/new arena is built there.

191COULD THE NHL RETURN TO WINNIPEG NEXT SEASON? - Page 8 Empty Goldwater raises concerns with Glendale Thu Apr 21, 2011 10:24 pm

Interesting document released about the Glendale/Goldwater meeting today:
The Goldwater Institute met with City of Glendale representatives as well as Matthew Husizer on Thursday evening to discuss the planned sale of the Phoenix Coyotes.

Goldwater opposes Glendale's role in the sale, stating the city is subsidizing Hulsizer's bid to purchase the NHL team, which is in contravention of the Arizona city's laws.

Below is a document outlining the list of concerns and potential solutions Goldwater raised with Glendale on Thursday.

This does not look good for Glendale nor Husizer.

The Jets be coming home.

Sing along with me.

The Jets be coming home.

so... why doesn;t glendale just buy the team themselves? would that be illegal?

Dunno. Seems just as impracticable as funding it for hulsizer.

Where would you rather live if you had a choice and some someone was paying you $4.5 per year?
1. Winnipeg
2. http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/morning_show/cool_house/shane-doans-horse-ranch-04112011

And option 2 is only his "get-away-from-it-all" house.

Same climate as Siberia maybe....Western Russia is considerably milder than Winnipeg, even Moscow is usally much milder than our winters....wont even bother mentioning places like Sochi which has Palm trees and more of a mediteranean climate. Winnipeg is the coldest major city with a population over 500,000 on the entire planet.

No, it's not. There are several cities in Russia that are larger than Winnipeg and colder than Winnipeg on average. This argument is getting tiresome. And BTW, Edmonton has THE SAME fricking CLIMATE AS WINNIPEG, AND HAS RECORDED COLDER TEMPERATURES THAN WINNIPEG. I KNOW BECAUSE I LIVE HERE.
Hope that clarify's things.

PS, I really am sorry for "yelling", but I'm tired of hearing Winnipeg is the coldest city on the planet over 500,000 because it's simply not true. In NA, yes, barely as Edmonton is a right-on-your-a$$ runner up. In the world, no.

Um, sorry Edwin...your wrong on this one.
"According to Environment Canada, Winnipeg is the coldest city in the world with a population of over 600,000 based on the average night-time temperature during December, January and February, inclusive"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_and_climate_of_Winnipeg

Just do a quick Google of coldest major cities and Winnipeg get's mentioned with other metropolis' such as Ulan Bataar, Mongolia. As someone of Eastern European decent I can categorically say that Western Russia is much milder than Winnipeg, for instance they actually have a spring and fall. The only reason Russia is considered so damn cold is because compared to the rest of Europe where temps below -10 are rare even in winter it is cold, but compared to Winnipeg it's actually mild.
