Or as a Doctor told me who do you think pays for all the free samples you get from doctors to think they are free is naive .

"I suspect some of the people try very hard to believe (it doesn't corrupt the bidding process)," Bell said. "But they're flying in the face of every study and every analysis that's ever been done of this situation."

This is so stupid to think it does not impact decisions, even if it is a brown envelope. Lets take for instance a yearly contract of some sort.
Client A bids 10 Million
Client B bids 12 Million.

Seems easy to go with Client A right? oh wait.. remeber last year when the bids went through, client Bs was slightly lower and we went with him.. and he had $3 million worth of stuff in the brown envelop? Hmm... I wonder what he has this year???

Postl has got to go for allowing, and now defending, this outrageous policy. He just doesn't get it.

Either the man is very dense, or a heck of an actor for saying that with a straight face.

Marty Gold make an astute observation today about Postl. I can only recall the essence of his comment pr at least how I interpreted it. Something along the lines of Postl calling on the attorney general thereby invoking some sort of privilege. Similar to what happened during the Crocus debacle.

Watch now when the Province declares they can't henceforth respond due to this privilege.

What I've seen lately is a whole bunch of denial. "I was never given the facts". Health Minister Oswald. I guess she didn't think to ask a few simple questions.

"I did not view the video until recently." Dr. Brock Wright, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority chief medical officer. Why the hell not? He seemed cocky enough to claim Sinclair never approached and spoke with triage. Had he viewed the video he might not have appeared like such a huge knob and deflect blame onto the patient.

These people, and Brian Postl, are idiots. Is it any wonder why our health system is in such a disarray? Why are such things made so complicated? Fess up at the outset. Develop new procedures to fix the problems. Then get it done.

Oswald needs to be removed from any and all portfolios. Between this incident and the brown envelopes issue she has proved to be not only really stupid but blind as well.

Postl and Wright also need to go. Find some people that have moral and ethical nads. Postl needs to go because he is a crook. And uber-stupid. Wright because he is blind. And stupid.

Stupid is as stupid does.

That pretty much sums up what the problems are with our health care system here....good post.

And you're 100% sure of that, willing to put a body part on the line? The whole idea of controls is to prevent this type of sh1t from happening because people will figure out they'll get caught. Did any of the RFP's sent out state "Include kick back in plain brown envelope".

Don't be naive and think anyone can justify this as a sound business practice.

Seems to some that because it has always been thus it is acceptable. Problem is if good comes from it bad too can come from it. How many brown envelopes are never accounted for?

Don't forget that any monies handed out in brown envelopes is simply added to the price elsewhere.

I'd sure like to hear the accounting for the kick backs. I'm quite sure that they never recorded the cost of whatever net of the kick back. So, as any good government employee, they could say that we can't spend any more on X, because we spent the amount set out in the budget, but still have a tidy sum on the side for "special projects". "Postl, you got some splaining to do."

Postl has said he liked the system and found no problem with it. He is still saying that...and the government so far seems to agree.

Un-fcuken-believable!!!

Now I'm thinking of all that money that was paid to the Unions for no work stoppage on the floodway....where did that money go?? Any kick-backs???

More fecal matter spewing from WRHA peeps while defending Postl and Weight. Is it any wonder this organization is so ineffective? Below is Fineblit's response when the opposition demanded Oswald, Postl and Wright resign. "Inappropriate"? This guy might well be the biggest knob in the entire affair. They have circled the wagons and keep shooting themselves in their collective feet. I believe they are waiting for this to blow over, hoping Winnipeggers will forget. Fire all three of these knobs. Dismiss Fineblit from the board. Better yet, dismantle this friggen bureaucracy.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Allan Fineblit, vice-chair of the WRHA board of directors said in a statement that both Postl and Wright have a long record of exemplary service within the Winnipeg Health Region.

"It is entirely inappropriate to make those kinds of comments, without a full, fair and transparent examination of the facts," said Fineblit, adding that following a meeting of the full board Tuesday, they will be issuing a more comprehensive statement.

To bad not every one waits for all the facts , to come out . While changes are needed , the system has gotten us quite a few things we may not have under normal ways and means to bad most do not stop to think of this .

The system has profited for the individual .

Then again some of us have stopped to think about it. Some of us have come to the conclusion the brown envelope process is just plain wrong wrong wrong.

I don't believe the system has received anything out of this immoral process that did not cost us our own money. Too bad some won't see this for what it really is.

Personally Iam more worried over the Sinclair issue then this as no has as of yet proven someone profited from this, it is a Whats is Name issue .\
Or no issue at all .

Two very big issues. Sinclair's death and under-the-table-cash.

I agree with GOM ...three must go ...Postle. Wright. and Fineblit.

It is now becoming clear that we have an incompetent board running an insane asylum.

Prove where anyone profited from it JTF cept the system till you can it is hearsay they did and the imagination of some peoples mind .
If we got some training for our staff on the device or some free pills for you to get at the Doctor s, then whats the problem and I for one believe that is all it is . Till proven other wise I give the benefit of the doubt something some on here need to learn .

That's the point Pav. When things go on under-the-table, by definition, they are untraceable.

Simply, we don't know what went on.

Is the system such that money in envelopes could have been passed around? You're damned tooten it could have.
That's why Postle and Oswald have to go...both are on the wrong side of the line, by a wide margin...very wide.

Who says any individual has to profit for it to be wrong? At some point, you just have to acknowledge that its WRONG. No matter how hard you try to deflect with comments like that and the irrelevant comment about unions, it just WRONG. Are willing to stick your head in the sand (or anywhere else you might find handy) until it happens again, on a bigger scale?
