I notice a lot of this thread is turning into "how to do Vegas cheap". In my opinion don't even try to do it cheap. Vegas is way more fun if your willing to go all out. I'd 2nd the advice to try the Wynn for the price mentioned above you can't go wrong. It's a HUGE upgrade from IP or Flamingo. They really need to hurry up and implode some of the older properties as they really aren't worth paying anything to stay in.

My best advice is look on tripadvisor at photos taken by actual guests before spending a dime. Is it really a deal to save 200 over a weekend but end up being a meal for the bed bugs? There's plenty of 4 and 5 star places in vegas that can be had for 100 to 200 a night if you plan well. Sharing with a friend drops the cost to 50 bucks each. Well worth every penny to avoid the dives.

Just my 2 cents. I too LOVE Vegas.Smile

Not do it cheap but get the best deal I can. One of my best friends is a travel agent and has stayed at many of the hotels on the strip, she has recommended the Flamingo or MGM. I don't want to spend a ton on a hotel when I will only be there to sleep. I plan on spending my cash on shopping and dining in fine restaurants. I want to check out Bobby Flays place as well as Mario Batalis restaurant. I am not much of a gambler but I will play some slots and enjoy a few drinks. Smile I have only heard bad things about the Imperial Palace on this forum...I have a ton of friends who have stayed there and not one bad thing to say. I have been doing my research and speaking to my friends who have been there recently. Today is the day we book!!!! Smile

I have friends that liked IP too but I think they're nuts. I've seen the photos and reviews and would not touch it with a 20 foot pole when you can get a decent room at most of the MGM MIRAGE properties for 100 more for the entire weekend. I really hope you decide on Flamingo or something else but if you don't have very high expectations I'm sure you'll have fun either way. It is Vegas after all.

We are leaning towards Flamingo at this moment. My friend swears by it! There is a group of us going so everyone has to agree on the same hotel.

Stayed in the Imperial Palace in 1986, hopefully they re-decorated since then. Internet website with great travel deals - Page 3 Icon_smile

You're not going to spend a lot of time in your room anyway.

Garth Brooks??? I would rather watch paint dry. The Beatles Love Cirque de Solei show looks good. No roller coasters for me..and definitely no star trek of any sort.

I would never go to her show...I am hoping someone decent will be playing at the Hard Rock or the House of Blues.

No, but Ms. Cher and Ms. Midler are still there, if that tickles anyone's fancy.

American Storm

Boys next door take Vegas by storm
By Kristine McKenzie
What do you get when you pluck your average boys-next-door off the street, put them on a reality TV show and teach them to dance? It's American Storm, the hot male revue at V Theater inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.
"StripSearch" featured Thunder From Down Under creator Billy Cross and VH1's Rachel Perry traveling across America to find a group of attractive and talented men to compete for the coveted spots in the show.
The show winners were once regular guys with regular jobs who now spend their nights entertaining a roomful of screaming women begging them to take it off.
And take it off they do. American Storm is a journey through time and American history featuring the boys dancing in a series of vignettes that cater to women's fantasies. There are the requisite cowboys of the Wild West, gangsters from the Roaring '20s and a trip through the psychedelic '60s.
The men of American Storm come from diverse backgrounds and there's something to appeal to every taste in this show -- including twins. Brothers Terry and Tony Cress are two of the audience favorites.
Each of the dancers has a solo performance and there is a bounty of crowd interaction. The emcee exudes plenty of charm as he sends the dancers into the audience. The boys make sure to visit every corner of the room and a few lucky women are pulled up on stage to get an up-close-and-personal view of the attractive cast. The show ends with a salute to America and the military, proving that every woman loves a man in uniform.
The show features some unusual tunes for a male revue. Instead of the typical bubble gum pop songs, you'll hear the likes of Green Day, The Killers and the Foo Fighters.
The men of American Storm have come a long way since "StripSearch" and their dance skills have improved immensely. You sometimes still get the feeling these guys are wondering how they found themselves on a Vegas stage wearing next to nothing, but it's that very humble quality that the women find so charming and appealing.

Heh!

Kind of reminds me of a story from a friend's almost wedding.

Anyways, he knew ( or someone in his family knew) Burton Cummings. Burton offered to play at the reception. Just him and a Piano. The guy's fiancee said no Internet website with great travel deals - Page 3 Icon_eek

How does this relate to Celine Dion?

Well my response was that I hated Celine Dion, but I would be a fool to turn down an offer from her to sing at our wedding!

nah.. you would be a fool NOT to turn her down. There is absolutely nothing that you ever want to do at a wedding to take away from the fact that the Bride is the absolute most important and significant person there.

Having Celine there would do this.

Just looked at the vegas.com site and Bette Midler's show ends Jan 31. Too bad as she puts on a great show, mix of music and comedy that has you crying in your seat from laughter. Lois Anderson is playing while you are there and from what I remember he is quite funny. Either way, Goth enjoy your trip, take in the sights and sounds of the strip (both old and new) and most definitely check out the outlet mall. We've been to the one in Albertville, Minnesota and have been to the one north of Seattle, Washington. The deals can be great if you take the time to look.
