She was a belligerent old gal to be sure. But the cop was a jerk. She was not in any way a danger to that cop. He claims he was worried she'd scoot into traffic so he tasered her.

Watch the video. If he'd just walked to the other side of the cars she'd have scooted after him in order to continue her rant.

She was telling him that she was getting back into the car and would have to go past him to do so. What did she think...that the problem she was in would just go away if she left?

She got what she deserved imo. She's old enough to know this sort of behaviour is going to end up getting a person into trouble.

Couldn't agree more. Any police force is entrusted with enormous power, and power is to be questioned, doubted and challenged at all times. While I appreciate the fact that there are cops out there that protect me, it's important to note that these are human beings, and when human beings are given power, they have a tendency to abuse that power. It's just so much easier than to follow protocol every time.

That said, I don't know anything about this particular case nor how cops behave in Canada more generally, but here in Iceland, if I hear someone accuse a police officer of excessive force, I take it for granted until the cop is proven innocent. That's the kind of behavior I expect from people with power, especially if they're not paid much.

Also, I've never, ever, ever had a pleasant interaction with the police. Whether I'm doing something wrong, or whether I'm trying to help, or whether I'm in need of help, they have disappointed me every single time. That's a 0% success ratio.
