Probably from a vegetarian...and what do THEY know about a good burger?

To me, it's quite hypocritical that they would call it a "burger" joint anyway...

and yes, i know...we've had the whole thread about that already.

The reviews came from meat eaters NOT vegetarians. Open your mind and try something healthy. LOL

I've been to Boon Burger. It was OK. If I were a vegetarian or vegan, I'd love the place. But I'm an omnivore, so I have tastier options available.

I hear they're opening another branch in the Exchange District. I'm sure they'll do very well there.

I should probably put this in the 5 Guys thread, but it's a possibility that 5 Guys may be opening in the little strip mall built in front of the Kenaston Sobeys. I was at the MTS store, and they told me an un-named burger place would be opening in the same mall. When 5 Guys first announced they would be opening in Winnipeg, a Kenaston/McGillivray (or somewhere around there) location was mentioned.

If you enjoy forays into eating vegetarian/clean eating, Boon Burger is really good and has a lot of options. I happened to have gone on a day when their POS system went down and they weren't able to process orders electronically or process payment via debit/credit, but that's beyond control. The food was good.

I was out doing errands yesterday and drove past a burger place called The Burger Place. Since I never get out in those parts (west Portage Ave), I made a quick right turn and had lunch there.

Their fries are really good. They use freshly cut potatoes (maybe--they looked like freshly cut potatoes, but I didn't ask if they were) and they don't undercook them. Nice crispy bits in there.

The burger wasn't bad. I had a cheeseburger which has chili, pickles, and onions. I would have liked a tomato on ot, but I think I ordered wrong. Maybe I should have had a deluxe cheeseburger? The bun was a bit large for the burger--I'd have preferred something a little smaller. It was a little dry, too (the bun--the burger was moist). But I'd eat it again.

It takes a long time to get your order, but at least they cook the burgers a la minute instead of precooking and leaving them on a warmer all day. I'd go back if I were in the area.

Zax isn't bad. I had a Fat Boy and I thought the burger was well cooked (hand-formed patty, moist though not juicy) but a little flavourless.

I really liked the fries. Lots of crispy bits.
