I support the idea of Heather Stefanson as the next leader. Post-election analysis is indicating that the PCs did not appeal to women as much as they needed to.

Bravo for Hugh for not wasting any time in pulling the plug.

I suspect Gerrard will be retiring in a year or so, after he's had time to cultivate some viable candidates to replace him and win the riding in a by-election.

Selinger will be doing the same, but in about two years. No way he's going to stick around for the 2015 election when he'll be chasing 64-65 years old.

Heather Stefanson or Blaine Pederson (Carmen MLA). Look for this in the spring. Also look for the Maniotba Party.

We should follow Alberta's lead and have a female leader! The men have had many turns at screwing up things, and have done an admiral job at it!

Hugh SHOULD have quit four years ago. That party executive should also leave. Their pathetic strategies doomed them from the outset.

Whomever they elect will be meaningless if their sad-sack executive can't pull their collective heads out of the sand.

If ever this province could use a new alternative...

Heh..this election, it seems like the PCs didn't appeal to conservatives where it counted.

Agreed. Nice guys finish second.

Naw. He's there for the duration I believe.

At least that's what he's said and it would be disastrous for his party if he stepped down....there's no one to take his place. (How about Anita or Sharon eh LOL)

He's going to tread water and then bail.

Where does Hugh get his suits? Damn, they looked pretty expensive and were the reason he lost so many votes! he looked like he lived on Wellington Crescent and was a real put off with all the poorer NDP and Communists.

Someone like Dave Angus would be a great fit as premier.

However he is a valuable asset to the WCC.

Agreed. Or as mayor.

Incidentally - I allowed the Manitoba Party to lapse after registering the name with Elections Manitoba 18 months ago. I got heavily involved with the PC team over the last year because I was convinced we could/would win office on Oct. 4th. The campaign strategy was a respected one however it failed. I suspected it would - when you pander to empty rhetotic rather than to the expressed wants of your support-base - that party just lost what credibility it had. The PC's played the same tune as the NDP however only in a different key or octave. People couldn't hear or taste the difference. Our focus should have been on freedoms including Sunday Shopping, gang policing, justice reform, ending the scam of photo enforcement etc. That would have strengthened the PC brand. Instead the brand is now nothing. The only questyion now is - is there any salvage value in usurping it and building with a new team - or step right over it with the Manitoba Party for example? I'm not big on splitting the right vote (and the PC team even less so) however my patience has run out and I plan to seek out a fresh team to begin the recruitment and fundraising process.

I was speaking to a friend who is hard core NDP (yes, I have those kinds of friends) and her comment was who would lead the PC's after McFayden. We were throwing names back and forth and Shelly Glover came up. Her comment was that she was a complete idiot, I guess the nippers are already working on their next campaign.

She would still do well. She has a few things going for her. She's a she. She's a former police officer. The PC Manitoba party lacks the women's vote. She's a top contender for the job. Whether she'd give up her current great gig to take it is another matter.

We are going to run Sam Katz and with Shindlemann's money, Sam will be a shoe-in!

Did you know that an Israeli won a 10th Nobel prize? Sam was born in Israel! And then raised in the North End! WOW!!

And like it or not, she's bilingual.

For that reason alone I would say she is the person that the morons are most afraid of.

Dave Angus.

But he has said no.

If you want a leader that will get down and dirty, gloves off with Selinger, then Ron Schuyler

The guy's a wimp.

He also ran for the leadership when Hughie won.

make me the leader. I'll kick Sellingers a$$ so bad day in and day out on the floor of the leg that he will cry and shut down the leg and rule by decree alone, lest he encounter my wrath directly.

New Tory leader will have a lot to juggle

Good article by Broadbeck. Tells it like it is.

I don't agree that there's lots to juggle.

I think it's easy to get back to where the party should be.

Turn right...and stay there.

Oh ya....get rid of a few people at the top...we all know their names.
