No, I'm saying if you read the information on the city's website you see that the target audience for the majority of these improvements aren't cyclists that already ride on streets and in traffic, it's the ones that ride on the sidewalk.

As for your last question - 'cause those cyclists are frickin idiots. See my earlier comment about wanting to clothesline one of those guys.

I'm saying the money is wasted.

If they would actually educate drivers and cyclists, instead of wasting all the money on useless "infrastructure"...they would not have the problems they are crying about, and save MILLIONS of dollars to boot.

IMHO the best use of the money from a driver / cyclist perspective would be:

Fix curb lanes ( this way you don't have cyclists jumping out to avoid massive potholes)

get out the spray paint and paint more diamond/bike lanes.

A diamond/bike lane down Pembina would be sweet. I hate waiting rush hour traffic!

I thought this was all about getting injection money from Ottawa to restart our economy from that deep dark place that we were just in. Smile

To design bicycle paths for our winters is IMO, the epitome of insanity....not to mention a waste of money.

I'd love to see Pembina from Mcgillvary to Jubilee NB get one. It will formalize what already happens anyway.

Well they weren't designed for winter. Those cyclists that they were targeted to don't ride in winter, so therefore they obviously were only designed for spring/summer/fall usage.

and yet... they still clear them in the winter

(might make more sense to make them into recreational ski trails)

...or cross-country ski and snowshoe trails taking over the inside lane. Same thought process imo.

that would actually be fairly cool... but too hard on the skis.

Surely you are not suggesting this was ONLY about creating some jobs. Surprised
On the other hand that could explain why so many curb-bump-ins and useless mini-traffic circles were created.
Since that would call for a lot of manual work.

Especially when they are forced to remove them all in a few years Wink.

This is a silly proposition that shouldn't have been so publicly acknowledged.

Not sure what you mean? This should not have been put forward? Or this should have been snuck through?

This is your third post in the sandbox? Consider maybe explaining your post before insulting people.

Here is what I asked: Not sure what you mean? This should not have been put forward? Or this should have been snuck through?

He means that this idea should not nave gotten the publicity it has.

It's a stupid, un-enforceable idea that should have stayed quietly in the person's head.

We've all been saying pretty much the same thing eh? It is unenforceable.

However I don't think that was what was meant so I asked for clarification.

It musta' been a very slow news day, or the writer had a personal agenda, in order for this nonsense to make the papers.

The cycling lobby has insidious reach. How else can we explain some of the complete BS infrastructure changes and plans that have been undertaken to placate about 12 or 13 people?

I guess the writer is an avid cyclist perhaps. That wouldn't surprise me.

Another thing is that there probably a lot of "justification crap" going on here....crap to justify the bike path nonsense that was part of the Fed Money being thrown around.

Imo, it's utter nonsense to think we should be considering year-round bike paths in our northern climate.

IMO the sad part is that I do not think any incumbent councilors lost their jobs over the way the money was spent.
