I guess to answer the question, I am spekulatin'. For the reasons 'splained above.

Aaahhh. I now understand.

Thinking about it...with those 4 signs on it, it would have to be cleared by hand.

I bet they didn't factor that into the equations, like you said.

so....just to be clear we can find all the people in the world to shovel snow by hand...but we NEED automated garbage pickup because the contractors cant find anyone to throw garbage bags for a living?

grumpy old man wrote:$18 million does not sound unreasonable if it means the bridge will last another 75 years.

The cycling lane is smoke and mirrors - pandering to a vocal minority. Mostly due to the fact those lanes don't exist on both ends of the bridge. Where do the cyclists go when their lane suddenly disappears?

Driving through that area once construction begins will be a nightmare. Since Donald Street is already jam packed at rush hour I don't see much relief at other bridges.

Is it time to consider another bridge into the downtown area? Where would we build it?

I'm not really sure where you could put another bridge or what street it could feed into that would improve traffic flow. I can't really think of any streets south of the river that you could connect a bridge to between Maryland and Kenaston.

It's not about tying in to existing feeders...it would need to build new roads to access main thoroughfares.

I think another bridge should go closer to the downtown area feeder streets too.

A small bridge, imo, could go from Middle Gate to Hugo and on to Pembina or Corydon.

Perhaps another small bridge elsewhere as well.

Hell, if we're building virtual bridge, let's build lots of them. Smile

Yeah, I'm just wondering how you could bust through the residential sections to be able to do that.

It sure won't be easy umcrouch0. The city should have a plan in place that could be referred to to ensure new development does not become a (newer) huge impediment...
