Actually, she was quite effective, I mean, are you so committed to a cause that you might want to participate in a public protest, even with the remote possibility of running into her. Hell, she didn't even need a baton!!

Well...the FIRST form of ID was the police-issued batons.
The 2nd for some of the "plain-clothed" was the bulge sticking out the side of their belt under their shirts indicating they were carrying a weapon.
The 3rd (again for plain-clothes) was a square protrusion (hard to see in that video due to shaky camera) which was their ID issued for that detail.
A 4th was something attached to their shoe (again not really visible from that video), but ALL officers were issued an ID Pin which they were told to attach to their shoe for easy identification among other officers in case of emergency.

A few were obvious, with jackets with logos emblazoned on them.

Most of their ID for THAT situation is for ID of other cops...NOT for the general public...WHY? because I'll say it again...if they were walking around individually with an ID on...they become targets from the lowlife scum who insist on terrorizing others.

But even I'll admit that's one ugly woman!!!

Is the ID really an issue in the case of this video? I mean, really, there were many well identified police involved in taking whoever into custody, so does it make a difference that some (including the scary one) were not readily identified? Its obvious that the police are detaining the guy, so whats the issue?

From what I can figure, they came from behind the police line, entered the "crowd", grabbed whoever, and then retreated behind the police line again.

Back in the day, we learned Aid the the Civil Power, which included crowd control, etc, and one of the tactics was a "snatch party" (I regret using that term knowing that DeanK is reading this), but that was the idea to go into a crowd, remove an identified instigator, and then return to a place of safety. This job was usually given to the biggest and ugliest guys, and we see that one of those critieria was met in this case.

What really makes no sense to me, is that in canada we can criticize the government at all levels, any institution, any one and so what is the purpose of these protests? Free publicity?
Some pretty scary undercover officers carrying weapons mixed in with all the "protesters"!

The purpose is to raise awareness of specific issues and gain public support to pressure the government into changing policy.

What policy...be specific.

Multiple groups were protesting multiple causes. I wasn't there and certainly didn't have enough interest to have any clue what specific policies they wanted to change :p Ask me about something I protested and I can be more specific :p

but this is about the whole G8 G20 thing... still trying to find out what they were protesting.

As I said, there were multiple groups protesting multiple things. I haven't been paying attention enough to know what they were protesting.

Appear to simply be protesting the money spent on security... which would not need to be spent if there were no people protesting...so i will ignore them and their message as irrelevant.. AND misleading information they are spreading... ie
