I was thinking of going to Vancouver for the Olympics. I have family there so I wouldn't have to worry about accomodations but looks like I wouldn't be able to afford tickets to any of the events!

oh tons of the events are cheap..
but the finals never are..

Looks like I have to settle for quarter finals..... or maybe..finals and stay with GC's family?

I am a more then a little disappointed that I was not able to swing tickets and travel for the family. My one son really wanted to go, Sad. Ah well we will make sure to buy lots of tickets to the 2011 and 2012 world under 17 hockey challenge, hopefully that will make up for it.

Best international hockey tournament is being played out right now in Saskatoon IMHO. Should be great hockey right up to the finals when Canada (hopefully) takes gold again for the 6th time.

I agree that World Juniors = great hockey. I am a fan of the Olympics (especially Winter) and love to cheer for Canada...I think we may do quite well since the games are in Canada. Smile

I am a huge traditional Olympic fan (emphasis on traditional). Although I watch the Olympic Men's Hockey (I have 2 men in my house who dominate the TV when the games are on), I do it with my personal understanding that these are just All Star games being played over a course of 10 or so days. When watching the Olympics I prefer to watch the obscure sports, like biathlon, nordic combined, long track speed skating, ski jumping and the likes.

I totally agree about the traditional aspect. These crazy sports like Hockey and Basketball where it is the "pros" playing dont really in my opinion have a place in the Olympics. Mind you, they sure do make for some fantastic games.
