G8/G20 2010

I am sure most of you have been following the violence at this years summit. I was watching the news yesterday, the reporter was asking "protesters" (and I use that term lightly) what exactly they were protesting. Not one of them could answer, all they could say was they were against the rich and the rich getting richer. I almost fell out of my chair laughing.

What is your opinion on this?

Fascism has no place in Canada.

Peaceful protests are fine. But any that cross the line should be fully prosecuted.

A lot of those idiots used the summit as a place to pull their stunts. Not sure how their antics win people over.

I seem to recall similar protesters at the Vancouver Olympics wearing all black with their faces covered, they also smashed windows and were violent.

Same group, they call themselves the Black Bloc.

Had to laugh at the old guy on the news give them a uniform and let them spend six months in Afghanistan , find out what hard is .

These are not Canadians protesting. Oh sure the bodies might be Canadian, but the organizers that deceive these people into protesting like they are, most certainly are not Canadian. Its a highly organized deception. Not sure why.

IMHO, these black bloc people should be arrested and charged with Conspiracy to commit ______, Incite a riot, and Treason. Lock them up in jail till their trial. Lets see if missing a few months from University or Work and not being able to pay bills changes their minds.
All the other sheep who follow these instigating idiots should be arrested and charged with Treason, Mischef etc... I`m willing to bet that most of the sheep will never follow these idiots again.

The black bloc isn't a group; it's a phenomena, or tactic, for protests and marches where people use the group mentality for their own agenda.

Methinks the cops got most, if not all of them in their busts. I hope so anyway.

That's sorta' how I read that comment too. The average protester is okay in my books. The a$$holes are not, in any way, acceptable. Lock 'em up and toss the key for a few weeks...

A few of my friends on fb are left leaning socialists and I am of the belief that people can believe what they want. One of the socialists I know is convinced that the black bloc are actually security/cops out there to insight riots so the government can justify the cost for security. HA. Gotta love conspiracy theories.

A protest has some message(s) and goal(s) that are announced with media releases, speeches, interviews etc. I did not see any of this or was made aware of what was actually being protested. I conclude that the purpose was vandalism and nothing else.

I think all those protesters should be charged with Ambush Marketing.

I think all the protesters who were arrested should have to go live in IRAN or Afghanistan for 6 months. They wont be protesting there for very long before they take a long drop with a short rope around their necks

One girl interviewed had no idea what the protest was about. Was just there to protest.

Nope, I don't condone the dressed in black hooligans did.

But I do think that peeps have the right to assemble, and the right to protest.

And I agree that they should know what they are protesting before they protest.

There were irregularities in how the security was handled at the event (such as why the police fell back to the security fence, abandoned several police cars and basically left anarchy to ensue for 2 hours unchecked, by a relatively small amount of what I'll call provocateurs compared to the thousands of well armed and shielded police.

Call it a conspiracy all you want, however at past protests (in Canada) it's been documented that agent-provocateurs were involved. Police dressed as civilians, trying to incite a riot or other destructive activity in order to cast or paint the legal, and peacful protets as violence by violent people.

Cell phone cameras and video evidence of such activity is freely available.

I'm not starting a flame-war with anyone on here about this...this is my opinion only, if you don't like it, or don't agree, your free to do so.

I have yet to encounter anyone who feels peeps don't have the right to assemble and protest. I do believe that peeps should not infringe on other peeps rights to not have their property damaged or their right to simply walk from point A to point B.

The cops were likely inexperienced in such matters contributing to the situation. I say move these meetings to a more safe and secure location and keep them out of the downtown areas of major cities. What just happened in Toronto is pure garbage.

still dont understand why the billion was not spent building a major runway and hotel and water and sewer treatment plants up north in the middle of nowhere. Hell build it next to some underserviced reserve and just let them have it afterward so they can use it for revenue generation.
