Umm, if you consider the person, "truviking", who is a well respected, non-bs person who is known for his accuracy in his predictions, not to mention that he works for the company that helped design the MTS Centre and knows many people affiliated with the facility and Mark Chipman, I would say that it is a very reputable source.

Honestly, when the announcement is made and the "rumors" of relocation are made official, I will plan to drive back to Winnipeg (all night if I have to) and join in the celebration at Portage and Main of the return of NHL hockey to Winnipeg. How can't I? It's as historic a moment as this past weekends men's gold medal hockey game! If you are a Winnipeg hockey fan, who the hell would choose to miss that moment?

I for one hope it happens but I also refuse to get my hopes up to high as have been let down to many times . Besides I wonder if we can really afford it here .

i figured out the possible ticket prices at around $83 per ticket. That will make it a profitable club, because we know that Winnipeg is loaded with big spenders, and because Sam Katz is working on a plan to buy tickets for those on social assisstance to partake in the celebrations! lol
Winnipeg "c heapscape", Manitoba "cheapscape" POLITICIANS , blew this opportunity years ago. The provincial Conservatives were a little too Conservative, in not purchasing for $50 million dollars the franchise, and letting the club operate on the ticket revenues.

Cover the stadium, and you'll have the best rink in the NHL.

when the jets were here the wpg arena was routinely a third empty. the people only started going when the end was near. the arena was bad but i think the fans here would have kept their money even if a new arena was built then. having a man of the likes of barry shenkarow at the controls didnt help either. i remember one of the consession stands consisted of a fold away table, hot plate, stock pot,and bags of stale hot dog buns with filthy condiment bottles. and for 1995 money 5 bucks a pop.

Yes the city did a poor job of the concessions , as that was part of the reason the Jets left the city . Their was no agreement on the concessions or parking or beer .

Maybe do a little research then come back and tell us about actual attendance.

i dont need to do research. i listened to every single jets game on cjob. i remember the number 11 thousand being said routinely. and yes i rarely went to games because i was poor.

oh man the nose bleed seats at the old arena were freakin scary. hate to think what a couple of drinks would do to someone who had to sit up there.

The first day that the Walker Theatre re-opened, I was in the nosebleeds for Blue Rodeo. That was scary. If you tripped, you could really hurt yourself, not to mention the people you could fall upon.

I sat in those nose-bleed seats many times. Not the best seats to watch a game in. Nah, that arena had nothing to do with attendance...
