Exactly, if someone doesn't like the job that an employee is doing, you have them correct it or replace them.

2) Perhaps games are played by the defence but they get nowhere if the crown does not agree (play along). Right?

4) The crown does not prosecute all charges. They drop many of them for some reason. Sometimes they drop the most serious charges in favour of the less serious charges in exchange for a guilty plea.

Then there is the "concurrent" crap. Bad guy is convicted of two counts of robbery and they get sentenced to concurrent terms.

Let the system play out. Prosecute on every charge and have the bad guy serve full sentences on EVERY conviction.

I would like the judge to throw the book at almost everybody. If they appeal they appeal. So what?

Speaking of precedent what a incredibly aberrant and abhorrent piece of crap rule is that?

Let's set new precedent. Every time.

They are both, but if it is in provincle court, it is provincle crowns .
Chomiak has no control or influence over a federel statute which murder is . he can voice his displeasure to the Federal Minister
And yes if they do not play but they in many cases have been told to, as it is the way the crowns might get the charge to stick , even if reduced .

Precident The first set is the quideline till it overturned by a judges rule or the minister states it is no longer to be used .

Oh oh. There is that "it is the way it has always been" gambit. I'm trying to get to a point in the debate where we can discuss real change. I can't stand that response.

So how do ya think that is working in Canada's judicial scheme? Crime rate increases. Same old assholes committing more and more crimes.

Let them appeal. Damn the cost. Our judicial system is broken. I'm tired of excuses. Prosecute to the max. Sentence to the max. Word will trickle down to the bad guys very quickly.

Enough of the semantics, we'll just buy a helicopter, that'll fix all our crime problems. It'll stop people from breaking into houses, stealing cars, ramming police cars and other people with said stolen cars...hell, we could probably buy a helicopter large enough to transport the tactical team, thereby finding savings!

Not only that, but the helicopter pilot could also be a trained cop, given a quota and instructed to issue tickets for the offenses he sees flying above the fray! So it'll make money hand over fist in conjunction with photo radar!

Hell, I've got a better idea! In addition to the tactical team on board, why not install a photo radar camera on the belly of the chopper...nothing in the photo radar law says anything about positioning a camera in the sky...does it!! Brilliant!

They used to have planes track speeders by timing between chevrons painted on a highway. Is this what you are alluding to Deank?

there is that too.. but there is one area ( dont think it is in North America ) that routinely uses its helicopters to issue tickets as well.

A cop told me once they very rarly used them cause they did not have a plane to fly over them with . But the result were good as people tended to slow down .

I noticed the new Helicopter hovering above me when I was returning home near the Village. I think it's a good idea. Thoughts?

That is probably the traffic helicopter. One of the radio groups uses it, can't remember which one, if it is the CHUM group on Pembina (BOB & Curve) or the CORUS group (CJOB & Power 97 and Groove 99.1).

I knew one of them did, the other group used to use a small plane out of St Andrews. Used to know the lady who did the traffic from the air a few years ago. She said she loved doing it, especially in the winter when it was close to Christmas when you could see the lights getting brighter the closer to the 25th it got.

haha...

I hadn't even viewed this thread since I posted it last week. I assumed it was the new Police Helicopter. It could very well have been a traffic chopper. All I know is when I was living in Edmonton, I would occasionally see their Police chopper overhead.
