Excellent post, JTF. You've hit the nail on the head. And to add to this, even in non-religious backgrounds, women have been considered unequal to men over thousands of years. It is only now that things are changing. Catholic churches now have alter-girls alongside with alter boys during masses. Many demonimations have women as pastors, priests, etc. Women are now starting to become included as equals, as it should be. No one can change the past, but I believe that acting now to help alieviate past history is a step in the right direction.

I don't hate Jews by any means, I'm just pointing out a historical fact. The state of israel was born out of terrorism perpretraited by the Zionists. The main reason the British packed their bags and left Palestine (now Israel), is Jewish groups were committing terrorists acts against the British.

Facing mounting opposition to their presence in the Holy Land, needing to rebuild the UK from the devastation of WW2, and the fact that the british were losing control of Palestine finally convinced the Brits to abandon the region in 1947, and to leave it to a UN mandate.

However, it cannot be argued that the bombing of the King David hotel in 1946, and the subsequent lynching and torture of 2 British soldiers by Jewish groups was the beginning of the end of British rule in the holy land.

So, that makes it OK for whats going on today?

The state of Israel was born out of a few civil servants getting together to draw up boundaries that did not respect the reality. Same thing in India/Pakistan/Afghanistan region......start reading the works of T.E. LAWRENCE instead of spouting off the propaganda......

Barton it goes to me being called a crazy witch b1tch feminist the other day simply for stating that many religions denigrate women.......I see hypocrisy being played out at my expense by two posters who have said some pretty disparaging things about women and about me privately and publically.....I do not care if someone disagrees with me but I do care when my words are misinterpreted, my sexuality/orientation/looks etc....are called into question or the integrity of my adult children questioned.......enough is enough as certain folks oughtta know by now they cannot have their cake and eat it too......I know that certain things i say are going to rankle but at least have the intellectual fortitude to admit that perhaps one has read too much into some of my statements?

As to debating/discussing Islam I feel more than qualified to do so based on my several years of study of that particular faith (along with other faiths), my travels and jobs done in countries where Islam was the ruling religion and my liaising with members of the Islamic community right here in North America for MANY MANY YEARS.

I am not a newbie to this realm and as such am not in any way in awe.

I would be very shocked if a large part of that museum did NOT dedicate sections to the Balkan conflicts, the Armenian tragedy or give some context vis a vie going back to the crusades.....that would be a major oversight if committed and would call immediately into question the integrity of that institution. Scholars of the various genocides/holocausts would be up in arms.
