"Doer's office sent a letter to WSF chairman Keith Ferbers yesterday, demanding they eliminate the fee.
"We were absolutely surprised to hear of the Winnipeg Soccer Federation's plan to charge an admission fee of $2 to parents and spectators attending regular games at the complex," the letter says. "The province requires as part of our agreement that the Winnipeg Soccer Federation cease from implementing such admission fees."

Brodbeck is a rude a$$hole. His arrogance and intolerance sure have come to light in that thread.
He is also an extreme hypocrite. He is DEAD against a new stadium coming out of taxpayers money but okay that the soccer complex come out of taxpayer pockets. He rails that users pay for the stadium. But cries when users are asked to do just that at the soccer complex. I don't use the soccer complex. Will not likely ever use it. But it is for the greater good of the community. And I support taxpayer funding. Just like the football stadium.
Anyone disagreeing with this comment know you are disagreeing with shades of grey...

I really don't understand why this city hasn't started a reward for lack of class and name it after TOM BRODBECK . Don't either understand why people read the mindless drival he writes . He like to be sh disturber and he is good at it not as good as Warren but then Peter had class .

you guys are giving brodbeck way to much credit here. let's give some credit to all the parents who called in to the MSA/WSF/WYSA etc. to complain and to the premier for actually listening to the people. yes brodbeck may have put it in your face but that was all he did IMO

Why should I have to pay for your kids to play soccer indoors in a place with a freaking lounge of all things ?
A few years ago, kids played soccer on school soccer pitches and parents brought their lawn chairs and coolers.

Kids still do play on the school football pitches and the parents do bring the chairs but they can't play in the winter, the parents wouldn't come out to watch.

Gee, last time I checked baseball , golf, soccer and football were playing in the summer, Hockey, ringette , bowling and curling in the Winter.
Why do we have soccer in Winter ? I say if you want soccer in the Winter, you pay.

As someone who doe's not use this facility , the charge seems wrong when Tax money is used to build it . But the cost of running anything has gone up and maybe they need the money for what ever.
