The only people who should have to pay are those who can afford to. All low income northenders will of course get in for free. Wink

This is only two bucks why not put it towards a fund to split amoungst the teams who use the facility, maybe less chocolate bars to sell. Or socials to hold .

That means we will have to issue special "Low Income" identity cards. A means test is conducted and if you fail you get a card. That card should grant the holder reduced or no entry fees to all city owned facilities, transit, health care, housing...

Ooohhhh. Sounds like socialism to me.

Tyndall Park alone has 15 kids who cant afford to play and are subsidized for soccer. Across the city probably close to 1000 are subsidized. (just a guess though). Shouldnt the parent at least do the right thing and try to watch thier kids games?

Sometimes I wonder why the parent can't afford it , lack of money or it is easier to let someone else pay. Just a thought.

I think some parents don't want to give up their beer and cigarette money. It's all about priorities.

There is a lot of truth to the fact that some people are just looking for a free ride, but there are cases where some help is needed and there are mechanisms in place to make that happen.

I received a voice mail from CBC wanting comments on the issue, but really don't have time.

A couple of things to keep in mind. There certainly has been a call for more indoor soccer facilities, particularly from the soccer groups in the south end of the City and the senior leagues. Interesting that the north end has more teams entered than any of the other 4 youth organizations in the city and we will all be trekking down to the University with our $2. The senior teams haven't come up with the expected number of teams, seems the cost might have scared a few away in favour of cheaper facilities.

On the winnipeg soccer federation website they have a document posted saying they have come to an agreement with partners... but the document is not actually there. I suspect as soon as the link is fixed we will see whats what.

As of yesterday the guy interviewed on CBC said the agreement won't be made public. That it was something reached but details would not be released.

They did say the $2 fee would no longer be charged though.

I somehow think that this $2 will somehow come back and bite the soccer community in the ass.
