I think to need to visit other NHL cities in Canada and even the US. You should see how many out of towners come out to games and pump money into the local economy. How is this a bad thing?

There was a study conducted to measure the financial impact on the city. I don't recall the actual results but it was significant. It included not only the cost of hockey fans coming into the city but most significantly the impact of traveling team players, coaches, etc.

Yes the amount of money was big, forget also the actual amount ask the service industry Trinniman sure they can tell you . I know from a hotel manager it was big for there hotel as most teams stayed there when in town .
The salaries of the players were also for the most part somewhat spent here , ditto the equipment bought from local suppliers . Any business worth the money and contracts that NHL teams are do good for the city . No doubt about it .
