Yes there are junkies there now and this park plus the local pride of the neighborhood probably will push them else where. Maybe down the river to Selkirk .

So at least let us distinguish between north and south here? No junkies or whatever down my street. Maybe near Jordan van Sewell's but not in this part of the point.

Mr P.....read the freep article.....this has nothing to do with Jordan's spoof piece in the local newsletter.

You have such a lack of logic the two of you.....WCC and EdWin.....gawd. Give it a friggin rest. If it had been anyone else other than this present gov't announcing this plan I would bet that your tune would be different.

There are already people here who can, and just did, attest to the fact that there that there are homeless/junkies already in the area; it'll only get worse. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy greenspace as much as the next person, just not in areas that will turn it into another Central Park (NYC).

And nope, even if it was a Lib or Con gov't idea, I still wouldn't agree with it.

Excuse me Edwin but there are two parts to the point.....where Mr P and I live there is not a junkie or homeless problem....that occurs in the south point area as it is more industrial and has larger tracts of bush. Read what was written in terms of geographical designation. Mr P was rambling about the southern area.

And how many times have you been to Central Park? I would dare say not enough....sorry dude but Manhattan is like a second home to me.....this project will be good for the area as we need to extend the green space from north to south point so it can hook up with the trails going downtown.....

Now this I would rather see. Do like they did here in Edmonton, although I"m not sure that there is a pathway from each end of the North Saskatchewan River Valley within city limits, the majority, if not all that land in the Valley, is greenspace, a natural greenbelt corridor between housing and the river. Just enough space to allow the pathways and natural habitat to exist, but not enough space to let homeless and junkies hang out. It's a good compromise.

This is what we, the residents, have been asking for for many years! I addressed this sort of issue over twenty years ago.

Once more here for emphasis.....that park, the one on Higgins and Main is PD South.....that so-called park has always had its issues but in over twenty years of living around here it has gotten better.

Basically the NDP were pulling a scam to milk taxpayers money in a election rebate scheme, and then Elections Manitoba helped cover it up until after the 2003 election , which an auditor said more than likely could have changed the outcome of the 2003 election and we may have had Premier Stu Murray. The Elections Manitoba auditor, after busting the NDP had his pay withheld and he quit , then Elections Manitoba only made them pay back money from one election instead of previous ones and didn't prosecute anyone. There is much more to it but that is the Coles Notes version

No there isn't, but the latest one is the NDP so we have to hang them out to dry like Filmon was.

I say hang every blessed one of the opportunistic bastards right on down to those who run for candy-assed positions jockeying for the greater glory that being to suck at the big teat known as government largesse.

Now how is that for cynicism well-articulated?

The issue, in my mind, is not the park nor the location.

The issue is how Evil Doer is imposing his crap on the city without consultation. Doer should do NOTHING that impacts the city without first consulting with the city. Then, and only then, should the provincial will be imposed on Winnipeg.

And then there are those who say we should let it happen first, then criticize it if we want. Same argument for another EvilDoer pet project...

Doer is showing more than ever why he is a bad premier, IMHO.
