I like Fab, but it is lighter. There is NO reason for 92CITI to be worried.

Ecstatic that Beau is gone from the BOBFM morning show, but I wish they'd get Steve and Harry back. Jay and Andrea are out of the frying pan and into another frying pan. Sad

It seems 92 CITI has brought back it's old gang? It seems that 3 or 4 "new" personalities are back on air, after a several year hiatus.

I love the new Fab 94....

I was born after FM Stereo and after CFRW-FM started in 1962/63, but before Q94 in 1975.

This music must have sounded superb with those old tube amps back then...Must have really made people feel good (happy) - raised the soul vibrations of the City.

Playing the music on FM sound seems to put more emphasis on the organ sound. I love the organ, and CFRW-AM never really emphasised that in the very same music. It's a technical thing that I guess AM can't reproduce well. The young ones (teens and 20s) must have had great discussions on this.

One question though: Where's the DJs? Where's the guy or gal who talks about the weather forecast, who talks about the music itself? Why must everything be reduced down to a computer MP3 file on some server?

Who cares?
The ideal radio station is the one that gets rid of all the crap talk and useless drivel.
When I turn the radio on, I want to hear MUSIC, not a bunch of yapping and bad jokes.

If I want to hear all that babble, I'll turn on a TALK station.

It's probably why I haven't listened to the radio in about 3 months. Instead I got a nice MP3 player that plays on any radio...and can listen to my own playlist whenever I want (either that, or there's some kind of weird music in my head).

That's the beauty of the various radio FORMATS out there. Personally I like a MIX of local new, weather and sports mixed in with my classic rock on the drive-in SHOW.

This morning was a PERFECT example of why I find that mix important. They announced an accident SEVERELY backing up traffic on my route. I would NOT have heard that on an MP3 player.

The "radio personalities" are WHY people listen to MP3 players.

On my morning commute I listen to music stations for *music*. A mix is good too - news at the top of the hour, and traffic reports for the reason mentioned above. Commercials are a necessary evil; they pay for the music.

But it's "radio personalities" that make me change stations. I didn't tune in to a music station to listen to inane chatter or stale on-air stunts and skits from "radio personalities". There's talk-radio stations for that.

At least they've gotten away from the three-minute station commercials that they had a decade or so ago: "We're the non-stop music station and you should listen to us because we play music non-stop with hardly any commercials to interrupt the non-stop music that we play non-stop because we know you like to listen to music non-stop which is why we play it non-stop...." Three minutes, and always in the middle of my commute. How could they possibly imagine that this would have any other effect but to make people switch to a station that was actually playing music?

I've come to the conclusion that AM stands for "Absolute Moron." You can well imagine what FM stands for.

Whenever a new radio station starts up, it seems they play music 99% of the time to get people to tune in, and add personalities and commercials in later.

I believe that there is a CRTC regulation requiring them to play non-stop music from their playlist prior to going to regular programming with commercials and personalities.

100.7 The Breeze sounds in a way like CKWG 103 from the early 1980s.

They have a true mix ('eclectic' - a more CBC word) of music on air.

There's 70s, some 80s, some CKJS ethnic stuff, some Blues & Jazz, and some Pop Standards.

For me they have replaced 99.1 for Jazz music. And 99.1 (formerly Cool FM, formerly Groove FM) is playing I don't know what. It's sort of danceable Pop.

Energy 106.3 I skip over because it's basically like Clear FM (102.3) ... girly 'R&B' stuff.

Something for almost everyone.

I always loathed morning radio guys. They all suck. Every one of them. I listen to XM now, sometimes TSN 1290 when I want to hear Jets stuff.

After mornings I blend sports/talk format stations with XM music channels (1st Wave and Alt Nation, which have no equivalent in the Winnipeg market).

I use to listen to college radio. When I lived in Vancouver I'd listen to UBC's radio station. It was awesome.

The local college radio stations here in Winnipeg suck, the DJ's either lack talent or they lack personality..
The main stream radio I flip back and forth between FAB94, Power97, 100.7 and 99 Bob.

We need Marty Gold back on that radio. He was wrongly fired by the College last year and he's itching to get back on to provide some balance to the controlled messaging that CJOB delivers on behalf of that stations biggest advertising client - the NDP Gov't. Same for the Freep. I had a 5 hr brainstorm with Marty yesterday and I can say that his fans won't have to wait much longer for the daily reality checks he presented/exposed to the establishment.
