Good lord is it ever hard to get quality service from this company!

I put in a change of address last week and at the same time changed my cable TV service.

I added a few HD movie channels to my selection. Since then I've been only able to view them on one of my Shaw PVRs and not the other.

It took me two days to reach someone!

And then a rude twit in the tech support group arbitrarily transferred me to customer service. Customer service asked me to speak with tech support.

The nice gal in customer service then resolved the issues, but not without chewing up much time on and off hold.

Shaw used to be so much better...

Sorry to hear about the experience. One of the reasons why I migrated from MTS to Shaw was for similar circumstances. I just could not get easy problems solved over the phone with customer/tech support with MTS, and with the introduction of HD channels on the horizon ( back then MTS had like 4 or 5 channels offered only ), it was the final nail in their coffin for me.

All that being said, I hope I don't run into these problems myself with Shaw, as I am not particularly loyal to any company. If I feel that I am not getting what I am paying for, I leave for greener pastures. In this case, if its for T.V. , I will be forced to try out satellite next. Laughing

For me it is Shaw + cell phone.

No need for MTS.

I dont particularly care for cell phones tho Smile

plus the good part about a phone is the free power in the event regular hydro goes out...

Odd I have always had decent to good service with Shaw, and the exact opposite with MTS especially with MTS Mobility.

That and I like the bandwidth options for internet with Shaw. Never hit my cap, though with Netflix running at home now, I should probably see how much bandwidth I am using.

Regardless I am a happy Shaw Customer, and won't be changing anytime soon.

I was an MTS customer up until 2004. I had some really bad service from them so I switched to Shaw.

Shaw has given me excellent service and I have no plans on switching back.

I haven't noticed a change. I just had to call them a while back cause my PVR was not working properly. I had a tech out to my house the next day and he ended up giving me a new one.

UPS system I thought? 3 to 4 hours I seem to remember someone saying.

When the installer was here he quoted

2-3 hours talk time
8-12 hours standby

Then you have to ask yourself... when was the last time you had a power outage in Winnipeg that lasted longer than an hour?

UPS is a battery. When I had a Shaw phone there was no UPS that I recall. But it would be a smart thing to do as a phone is often your only connection to the world when the power goes out.

Is Shaw phone not a a glorified VOIP dependent on internet connectivity? If so I would not be too pleased because their internet is out quite freuently, sometimes for a whole night.

I'll go ask Quebec.

I'll never go back to Shaw. Had terrible service from them a few years back. MTS hasn't been perfect, but at least when they screwed up an installation of HDTV they offered a deal to me as an apology, which I thought was nice.

My Shaw connection is seldom if ever down. I can't even remember the last time it was down unexpectedly or otherwise.
