I miss the Halloweens we had out in the country towns, innocent pranks that were good for a laugh or a licking from the old man if it got outta hand. Tip over an outhouse or two, stealing underwear from the teachers washline and running it up the flagpole........nothing like that anymore Halloween Icon_sad

no no ... moving the outhouse back 5 feet... that was the fun one.

or plastic wrapping the outhouse seat that was awesome too.

eh. egging a car, soaping up windows, even the dog poo in a bag on a porch (when done correctly) were all fun too.

i think the real reason you don't see it anymore is the transient and house hidden lifestyle of today.

when most of us were kids, our parents probably knew 1/2 the people on our street (at least). And most the neighbours knew what kids belonged where...and weren't afraid to go banging on your door if they saw you do something wrong.

Today, how many of you could actually name more than 5 neighbours on your street (family doesn't count).

How many of you would walk up to a group of teenage boys and tell them off for soaping your car?

It's definitely a different world than just a few decades ago.

Did you ever get invited into Burton's place? I wonder what the Bannerman house looks like.

I gotta agree with Ages on this one.........times have changed drasticly in just a few decades. God only knows what would happen if you interrupted the soaping kids!

In most cases the kids would mouth off, in a few cases, be prepared to take a swarming, and in one case you will be beat to death.

I don't live on Bannerman. I did at one time but I was clsoe to Scotia. I use to see Burton at the Safeway on Main & Luxton....he is such a tool.

My only plan for Saturday is to take my kids out, my son is going as a fireman and my daughter as a princess. I am going as an overworked, underpaid, exhausted Mom.

I wonder what the chances are of catching the flu would be, going door-to-door....
I take you don't have to wear a costume then?

Nope no costume needed, the hair in a pony tail and the bags under my eyes are enough. Smile

I carry hand sanitizer and have since before my kids were born.

Wow, that's...unusual. Until recently, I thought it was only for paranoid freaks....of which you're not one.

I always have hand sanitizer, I don't always use it. I use it in grocery stores, bars etc etc. Some people are gross and don't wash their hands!

I still shocked when I see guys leave the bathroom without washing their hands. When did that trend start?

Much simpler to just not pee on your hands.
