$250 million is a red herring. It is rumoured that the actual value of a weak NHL franchise is $130~ million.

Yes. Seriously.

And even if a new name had to be chosen, people would still chant GO JETS GO.

oh god aint that the truth, christ at least its very rarely chanted at the moose games anymore...I think

frick that was annoying to hear at moose games at the old arena.

I totally did it back when I went to a Moose game over 10 years ago. It's amazing what liquid courage can help you accomplish. lol!

If that is the standing offer why would Bettmen let them go for less.

The standing offer is a device to force the NHL's hand in this matter in bankruptcy court. This franchise will NOT be sold for $250 million. Not ever.

I know this because my sister's husband's, nieces boyfriends, mothers neighbour told me. That is a fact!

I heard the exact same thing, except from my aunt's friend's brother's girlfriend's nephew's mother's boyfriend's sister's grandmother's grandson's father's brother's niece's lizard. It's as legit as it gets Smile

not sure where Manitobapost thinks the money is coming from for this though. "now that Winnipeg has the arena, and the money to buy a team "

Read the ESPN story. Does not look likely. But where there is smoke there is fire eh? Rumour has the Richardson's involved. That was a Sputnik "source". Must be gold!

I don't understand why some people are getting excited about the possibility of Winnipeg getting an NHL team! Question
Besides a new arena what has changed in Winnipeg which would lead the NHL gods to believe Winnipeg could support a NHL team?

But why not? It seems to me that some people like to dream. What I don't understand is why some people want to dash those dreams.

What has changed? Not much. Maybe there are a few more peeps and a few more willing to shell out their hard earned dollars?

A newer arena with more comfortable seating and concessions might help. I know an awful lot of peeps hated the old arena. The sight lines from the upper deck were not great.

Signed, a dreamer

The Phoenix Coyotes are getting desperate. I received a call from their office yesterday, wondering if I'd be returning to Arizona anytime soon and whether I'd be attending any games. Also, this Saturday's game against the Sharks will feature $1 beer/pop/hotdogs and more...

People in Winnipeg can only dream about a deal like that.

Imagine the line ups at the toilet facilities if beer were a dollar at jets games.
