We want to own the lines so the problem is how we can grow enough nards to include those costs in our sale price.

Couple that with the fact we cannot negotiate worth crap....and we have a problem, Houston.

We need a new provincial government and new management at Hydro imo. Simple.

very much agreed, thankfully we are at the least getting a new leader at Hydro since he quit

I realistically can not conceive how if nothing else the NDP will slip to minority and will have to govern as a minority and maybe give their heads a shake about how they are thinking and dealing with Hydro.

I'd be interested to see Hydro pricing protocols.

This is what I believe is creating some confusion. It's a given that Hydro electricity cannot be stored like oil. Right?

When Hydro is run at capacity but that capacity is not consumed what happens to it? It sorta "disappears" eh?

Let's assume that Manitoba produces 100 greeblokwatts an hour. Let's also assume it costs Manitoba $0.60 to produce this electricity.

Assume that standard sales contracts demand that customer A will buy a fixed amount of electricity at $1 a greeblokwatt. A bigger consumer might buy it at $0.75. And in socialist Manitoba Manitoban's buy it at $0.50

Okay. Now let's assume all customers combined only consume 75 greeblokwatts of the capacity. What happens to the surplus?

Will Manitoba Hydro simply lower production and just shrug their shoulders and say what the heck. Oh well.

Or will they find a customer who can accept the surplus on demand and maybe pay much less? Even "at a loss"?

What's better? a certain 100% loss of revenue on unsold capacity or reduced revenue?

That is likely how a GOOD hydro company would be run. I suspect Manitoba Hydro is a GOOD hydro company provided an evil government is not sticking their nose into the management.

How about moving this to it's own thread on MB Hydro?
