All the more reason the oil industry should be nationalized in Canada, lower prices for Canadian's first and huge revenue potential from outside exports. There's no reason to be paying market prices in Canada when we are a net exporter of oil. Gasoline should be sold to Canadian's at the net cost of refining, and sold at market prices to outside markets. Total win-win for everyone but the oil companies.

Just think of the tax breaks that could be brought on for both individuals and business's if all the oil profits went into government revenue rather than private oil company profits. Seems to work for the Saudi's where citizen's receive a payout from the government rather than the other way around.

But that's too commie of an idea for you guy's I know.......

Thats exactly what it is.

Price of veggies went up, should groceries be nationalized too?

First the oil industry, then the food industry, then the clothing industry, and then the complete economy.

Then our names will be replaced by numbers.

Everything will be taken care of for us. Things will be simple. We won't have to worry about anything. Ever.

anyhoo.. what would I do if gas were $1.50 per litre? Well probably be driving to my moms for easter because I am guessing it will hit close to that eater weekend.

AND FOR NO GOOD REASON

seems to me the party that makes this an election issue... wins the election regardless of what their other platform is.

We know greens and libs wont because they LOVE high gas prices.

Didn't Canada try that in the 70's?

Ummm, first it was insurance (MPI) and then Gas. But we should not be jumping to conclusions about nationalizing everything...

I wonder if people will take the bus to the bank to cash their MPI rebate cheques now?

heh. I could not remember it but a little birdy reminded me this morning about gas prices hitting 1.50 a few year ago

http://www.winnipeggasprices.com/Retail_Price_Chart.aspx

if you hit the "6 year chart" link you will see it was all the way back in 2008. Man.. how can I not remember that?

+10 cents to bus fare seems teeny weeny.
I'd put their hunger for money more like a 35 cent price hike...
Remember, common people that become rich, are dangerous. Governments will do anything to stop this from happening.

It's Friday. Can't we discuss better things? Like what we'll be doing this weekend? Besides sandbagging.
(Not me. It was about +29C over here today).
