It is a weird insurance policy isn't it? You pay into it based upon your salary level (to a maximum). But only get paid out a fraction of your salary. What's up with that? What if I wanted to work a summer only job but only got back 55% of my salary during the months I'm not working? That's not fair is it?

I think everyone else that works year round and pays into it all year should subsidize me because through no fault of my own the career I've chosen only operates 6 months a year.

I probably pay $500 - $1000 into that insurance program every summer. That should entitle me to an EI payout equal to my full wages. Every year until I retire. After all, I'm one of the hardest working people known for those six months.

/end supreme sarcasm

By rights they would have a waiting period. Wanna bet that is waived for them??? But we should be understanding. They is special peeps. Nobody else has ever lost their job and had to suffer the indignity of a waiting period...

/end continued sarcasm...
