I say good for them, supporting their chef that way.

talk about your totally insane ways of doing business. Fire the chef, whom owns all the recipes.

uhh... what?

I would have walked out too.....reminds me of when I walked from that bistro in Saint B this past September and over what? Owner bitching at me for using a friggin glass to drink my water in and I had not even punched in yet. No worker deserves that sort of abuse. Some owners are control freak nutbars.....they undervalue the importance of staff and feel like they own us....man, no wonder I sometimes call it the Inhospitality Industry.

Unless they come back with an amazing chef, I really doubt that it will open its doors under the same name again. ESPECIALLY with this being in the Freep.

Been there once, enjoyed the pizza because it was unique. Have to see where he shows up, if at all here in the 'peg.

The chef and his commrades should open their own place!

Pizzeria Gusto co-owner Don Mottola declined comment Sunday evening. Several calls and messages left to co-owner Bobby Mottola went unreturned by press time.

Bet the Don won't be too happy about that... might make him an offer he can't refuse!

most chefs don't like the business end of the job.

the overhead, wait staff, etc. are not what chefs sign on for.

My suggestion is they hire a business manager to work for them, instead of the other way round...

The chef is supposed to run the kitchen, and then the owner's girlfriend the front half! lol

So has anyone heard what happened since the staff walked out? Is it still in business? Did the owner give in?

It was closed on wednesday night still, I saw customers at the door walking away as they read the sign that had been posted on the door.

Maybe good chef's aren't a dime a dozen eh? And mayhaps this chef did own the recipe's. I hope the owner learned a lesson...

Stupid is as stupid does.

Firing your chef because he went on a bender 8 years ago. Lame.

I'd be talking to the labor board about wrongful dismissal.

Considering they are the former owners of Dirty Laundry, a rather infamous coke-fueled Corydon place......hehehehe.....those who live in glass houses eh?

The owner sounds like a complete tool. Serves him right.

I thought that the laundry joint on Corydon was run by bikers.

Fort Garry Hotel managing partner Richard Bel loaned Motolla Marcus Pederson, and along with another chef, the place will be able to open next Tuesday apparently.

I see it the other way around! If my employer 'loaned me out', I'd probably feel pretty proud to have been considered that way! If you're someone's 'property', they obviously value you and want to keep you.

In the context of the food industry I would tend to disagree.....on the other hand, would you lend your wife out to your neighbour if he ahhhhh, was in need? May be a bit of an apples and oranges thing but the "loaning" out notion in the case of a restaurant scenario kind of has me thinking about other issues.

I am not disagreeing with your positive spin Mantha rather just thinking about certain implications of "ownership".
