In the context of the food industry I would tend to disagree.....on the other hand, would you lend your wife out to your neighbour if he ahhhhh, was in need? May be a bit of an apples and oranges thing but the "loaning" out notion in the case of a restaurant scenario kind of has me thinking about other issues.

I am not disagreeing with your positive spin Mantha rather just thinking about certain implications of "ownership".

would "seconded" have been a better word choice? Which word is easier to understand?

Dude, it is just me thinking out loud again.....or as Rosen would say??? ( fill in the blank and be sure to include the words blonde and bimbo ). Seconded though reminds me of Lawrence of Arabia.

From a business perspective though...I would disagree.

Our company quite typically "loans" out workers...who do tasks for other companies on a site.

Or, we bring in a trade, and then send them to work for someone else.

It's really just a "sub-trade" thing.

And...from what I've heard about Rick...he's big on doing "favours" for people he knows...and working for him is like "selling your soul" anyway.

I had Resto Gare on my list of "must revisit" joints.....I will now bide my time as menu development is an evolutionary thing. This is why I ix-nayed on going to Hermano's back in December. Their menu had changed in a way that to me, did not resemble Brazilian food.....as well, the chef who had planned the original, more authentic menu, was no longer around. That spoke volumes to me.

In the case of Bagshaw let us now see if his food matches his swagger. Winnipeggers who are willing to shell out the big bucks for a great experience tend to have fairly experienced palates and will not accept hype over substance. Besides, Beaujena's and Inferno's, two great establishments, are nearby and very established in terms of quality - no hype needed.

IMO, La Vieille Gare just wasn't the same after John Shimnowski died. It went from "french" to "quebecois" and is now pretty much a Red Lobster.

So now they'll introduce $40.00 pizzas to complicate the menu.

Well....at least the place doesn't have an open kitchen for the staff to oogle the patrons.

They were playing "Would you or wouldn't you?" with the patrons.

Is "oogle" a word? ....eyeing up a person?

They were dumb enough to talk about it to a reporter. For that reason alone, I'm staying away.

Besides, the Muse thinks they're PERVS and wouldn't consider going to a restaurant they were remotely connected with. I agree with her.

Well then the muse and you will not be eating out much because that sort of behaviour, while totally juvenile, occurs in many kitchens. I do not necessarily sanction it but I know how to deal with it.
