That may be the case but this report is spot on.....

And how would you know , never saw the report but have heard most of the stories people supposedly say are gospel truth . Not to say they are wrong but I do not believe in hear say .

Pav, I will never be an apologist for what I possess (including many, many contacts) and know how to use. BTW, I am not a "northender" in the classic definition thereof.....

Anyway, I found nothing revelatory in the documentary but it still made for some entertaining moments when obvious lies were trotted out. What amazes me is that this man, Nygard, can so brazenly trot out obvious lies on his bio like having been a member of the 1976 Olympic Yachting Team. That was a very easy one to verify. Pure sociopathy. When a sociopath is confronted with his lies he just keeps on doing what he was doing....no guilt, no remorse, no care.

When one is a sociopath with wads of dough and a most-likely coke-fueled temper? Dangerous indeed.

I wonder why the CBC, now, decided to go after him when it has been well-known in certain circles for decades now what a putz he can be. Now to me anyway, that is the story - the motivation for this investigative piece.

Anyone else watch the piece?

I just caught the last 10 minutes or so. There have been plenty of published pieces about Nygard and lot's 'o rumour and innuendo to leave me with the impression dude has some issues. That aside, he has been a spectacularly successful Winnipeg businessman...

I didn't watch it. Nygard was a friend of my late brother's, so my understanding of the guy is biased.

Fair enough JTF.....I am sure he has a good side (at least i hope so). I have met Peter on many occasions, socially at fundraisers and in my capacity as a photographer. My dealings with him have never been terrible but then again I was socializing and NOT liaising with him as an employee. One however is left to wonder as to what fuels a two-hour tirade other than some sort of pre-existing psychological condition.

I also know some of his long-time employees, women, who could attest to some of his more ahhhhh eccentric qualities but who also praised his business acumen....but yeah, the brothel-like atmosphere is well-known. I suppose one's view of his lifestyle is dependent upon whether or not they were ever the brunt of his anger or advances. Regardless, lines have to be drawn as to how one treats employees or just folks period.

I wonder, again, what was the motivation for airing this documentary now?

Perhaps the CBC was vieing for the Filipino demographic?

And then have the following questions to raise...Why would these people lie and or more specifically why on earth are we as a society sometimes "Appearing to always try an silence those that might have something to say on a particular subject matter?"...

And or why some are immediately perhaps "judging those speaking out without knowing the full details or specifics involved in each case?"...

And or why would anyone try and silence and or not support the media that goes out of their way to expose such subject matters as the one above?...

And can any of these people perhaps answer this question...

How would any of us the public en masse know "anything about the subject" without the media and or those willing to speak out on this and or on any other subject matter if "WE WERE ALL SILENCED" by one means or another?...Including the media...

Quite frankly, who cares? Nygaard is a private individual, and from what I can figure, he has broken no laws. Does he have an ego as large as all outdoors, yes, but he also has an incredibly successful organization, which he built from the ground up.
There is no doubt that he has pissed off some people during his career, but is this news? Can't see why. But then again, I'm not the publicly funded voice of the people who will do anything to try to prove my relevance in the face of continually reduced public funding. How's that for a motive?

Broken no laws? Did you watch the documentary?

Bringing in workers under tourist visas, breaking both Canadian and Bahamian labour codes (re: work permits,overtime, imposing fines, minimum wages), allegedly bringing in underage GIRLS for his sexual gratification with the promises of modelling contracts, and probably worst of all...forceable confinement.

Ya, he's doing nothing wrong at all eh Freeman?

I know 2 individuals first hand who have worked with him closely and I've known of these types of things going on for at least 10 years so it's no shocker to me. Why should we care? Because I think people do have a moral obligation not to support complete a$$holes such as Mr. Nygard and that they deserve to know what types of individuals they are supporting when they purchase from a company.

But I guess some can still look up to him as he is exceptionally profitable .
