interesting.. so Nygard is admitting that the information that they have recieved is in fact true.

And that if that information is disclosed to the public it " would injure his reputation, cause loss of profit and damage goodwill"

Neat that the CBC can decline comment "because its before the courts."

It seems that Nygard is not suing becuase he is scared that they will lie about him. He is suing to keep his TRUE secrets.

Good for Peter Nygard. Fcuk the CBC anyway. They are the most biased network we get here in the Peg imo.

This case is about a breach of a confidentiality agreement between him and two employees I believe.

In his statement of claim, Nygard says Prowse and Neal were bound by confidentiality agreements and had no legal right to share information about their work at Nygard with local CBC researcher Timothy Sawa. Nygard also names Fifth Estate executive producer David Studer in the claim.
Nygard says CBC has no legal basis to use their information in a story.

For the CBC to act on such a breach is what we all should be concerned about imo. Acting on such a breach is tantamount to solicitation of a crime one could reasonably argue.

If they were bound by confidenitiality agreements and had no legal right to share the information I totally agree that would mean that the CBC has no legal right to share it.

That does not mean that the truth does not hurt.

Nygard is an ass. I knew a few women who worked for him and he is a nazi. He actually had scales for the women to weigh in everyday, if they gained any weight he would publicly scold them. He deserves whatever he gets.

Those were his models and that was the way it was in the old days. He is/was anal about his branding...and so he should be.

But hey...the guy goes through a lot of women and many people sure don't like that....especially the ones he doesn't do.

Actually they weren't models they worked in his office. One of my friends was a receptionist. Her weight had zero to do with her job.

Perhaps she fell into the later catergory?

I remember Nygard , from 41 years ago, when I was in the dress department working for The Bay!
He started from scratch and built up an incredible business. His pwrsonal dablings with "his workers" should have nothing to do with any of the CBC or our business, unless the CBC wants to out him and his possible horrible treatment of his female staff.
Let the courts decide if information that was part of a "secret agreement" with his staff is printable by the media.
That reminds me of the 1970's release of secret information on the U.S. being in Cambodia and Vietnam) The Pentagon Papaers. The courts decided that the information could be published in a 6-3 vote.

I also remember that Nygard made the papers when an employee claimed she was raped by him, and that was settled out of court!
On the good side , his company purchased 10 rolls of fabric from us for his mansion that just burned down. Hopefully we'll get the replacement order.

I guess I see "true secrets" as more of inside industry secrets, buisness practices and the like....junk no one really cares about unless they are in that buisness or something was illegal. And skeletons, I see that term as more....how shall we say...embarrassing personal stuff that would alter ones perception of someone, or something. My bad...

I guess it comes down to the confidentiality agreement....if it was written incorrectly, then it could be a moot point.

What I mean is, you can't sign away your rights. If they signed a non disclosure document that wasn't written legally...then it could be tossed, in which case they can blab all they want. If they violated a perfectly legal non disclosure agreement, then they are screwed.

I thought NDA's had a certain effective time period....further, I also thought that only the government/military was allowed to legally keep you quiet for the rest of your days...? I've been incorrect before...! :-)

Agreements are a common thing in business' dealings. I can see these individuals being sued for disclosing, but I don't think the CBC will be forced to cancel their "unbiased" findings. lol

I kind of equate this story to the Siloam Mission/John Mohan doing the employee...I don't care. I'm certainly glad that the Peoples' Network sees this issue so important that they can spend those hard earned advertising $$'s to take it to court.

The public loves scandal, but should the CBC pander to this low level of "news".

I dont blame the CBC or the reporter for that one. I fully blame the guy who actually asked the questions given to him be the reporter.
