I agree. This is just getting her feet wet. Don't be surprised to see her get shuffled into cabinet in the next few years. A smart, bilingual, Metis, Female MP: the only thing she doesn't have going for her is that she's not from the 416 or Montreal.

put her under the minister of justice to prime her for the spot!

I don't think she's got a law degree, which is something that they always have I believe. They don't need one, but usually (always?) have one.

But I imagine she'll be contributing her knowledge to the cause.

I'm wondering if a law degree is required. Would a really sharp minister rely on his aids and the bureaucrats? Maybe a law degree would be a hindrance. I'd love an ex-cop to take that portfolio. Maybe change justice to reflect reality: victims first - scofflaws never.

Don't believe it is a required part for the job just helps you understand the complexity of a case before the courts.

I believe the correct title is Minister of Justice, not Minister of Shisters, so someone without a law degree would make a good choice. As far as understanding the complexities of a case before the court, I thought that the politicians were supposed to be removed from the process.

A former cop as minister would be great, maybe we would actually see some justice.

Correct as the minister you may have to rule on legal matters best if you understand the implications of your ruling. for your judges and the lawyers beneath them .

Does that apply only to Canadian law? I recall that Paul Martin had a brief foray into Mexican law.

He did not go as a minister of the goverment but for the minister of the goverment . At least that is what insiders say , it had to be and appear that the Mexicans were not being told what to do .
