Why the special treatment of not naming him?

This is getting stupid. First they seemingly overreact and throw the book at two officers for taking down a criminal and lying about the circumstances. Now they charge a guy with assualt but dont name him?

Come on guys.. get with the program.. All we want as citizens is the same reaction to police being charged as for non police being charged.

Arrest them, charge them with the proper crimes, let everyone know who was arrested and for what. The investigation should not be taking months and months before charges are laid either. Common decency and an even application of the law is all that is required.

The police officer is obviously not guilty!

....especially since everyone is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty....

The suspect has been identified as 34 year old William Gary PANGMAN of Winnipeg. He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon X 2, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Mischief Under $5,000.00. PANGMAN was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre."

Now lets move to the cops arrest
name.. nope
Where crime was located... nope
Officer detained.. nope

oo even better.. the officer's crime of alleged to ahve happened.. yet they dont mention that the crimes allegedly happened in the first case do they?

I dont want to crucify cops I want them to be held to the same standard as us regular people. Or at a minimum legitimate reasons for details being left out of the information.

Well Mr Mike Sutherland. I for one would rather wish that people didn;t have the perception that police officers got off lightly. You know a good way to end that perception? Stop ensuring they get off lightly.

His name is just well.. more then a little unbelievable.

see, now this is what I mean by they need to apply it equally. We dont release information about the relatives of most people so how the hell is it any of our business that he is the nephew of the chief of police?

Sure its great that the chief didnt try to use family connections to make this go away. But that is pretty much a given that he would not have in my opinion. Yeah this would be news if the chief DID use his position to make this go away. NOT news and NONE of our business that he did not.

It is news Deank. Were they to have NOT reported that connection it might have been looked at poorly as well. In this case damned if you do damned if you don't.
