Are we really that underachieving of a province that some of these people make the grade for order of manitoba?
i am sure that they are all worthy candidates for other awards and such, but to me they are just not what I would think of as order of Canada material

I'm not sure how some meet the criteria. Perhaps Maddin., Perhaps the fellow who helped build a couple of Muslim centers.

But Sylvia Kuzyk? Because she is an Arts supporter? What about those arts supporters that do much more than she does? Is it only because she is on TV every night?

And I'm not sure about the police woman? Is it because she is the first? Is this only based on gender? What about the other high ranking police officials?

oh yeah no doubt she has done alot.. but to me thats just not order of Manitoba material.. but I guess I am thinking its totally something hugely freakin amazing, but after reading some of the past recipients it more sounds like something that is good, just not great.

It seems they will give you an award for just being around for a long time...and before the public for exposure.

When Lloyd Robertson and Peter Mansbridge get the Order of Canada for being 'talking-heads', you gotta' know the awards have become bullcrap.
