When you were just a kid, we had a storm that brought snow drifts so high in the Maples, you could ski down the rooftops off certain houses... Yikes. And people refer to Winnipeg as the coldest place on the planet??? I think Edmonton gets that prize. I don't ever recall having a temp of -59 here in da peg.

The coldest temperature ever recorded in Winnipeg was −47.8 °C (−54 °F), on December 24, 1879. The coldest since then was −45 °C (−49 °F) on February 18, 1966 and the coldest temperature during the last 25 years (1984) was −41.7 °C (−43 °F) on February 5, 2007.[2][3] The coldest wind chill reading ever recorded was -57.1 on February 1, 1996.[3][4] The coldest temperature recorded in Winnipeg was −45 °C (−49.0 °F) in February 1966.[3] According to Environment Canada, Winnipeg is the coldest city in the world with a population of over 600,000.[5] However, the statistics for both Ulan Bator (average annual temperature of -1.3°C) and Edmonton International Airport (average annual temperature of 2.4°C), are colder than the statistics recorded at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport (average annual temperature of 2.6°C).
