wieners this time.

heh, I wonder how many people still buy there stuff? I noticed that Sobey's has tried putting them (wieners) on sale as low as $1 per package. And people look at the sale, but still walk away and purchase ones that cost 4 times as much.

Have to go with brats (bratwurst) instead now that I've tried them.

I like them much better than wieners and smokies, and your starting to see more people cooking them than before.

Smokies are very good but here is a question for you.........
What do you think smokies are made of????????? Just a better version of the lips and a$$holes from a pig. Smokies are just not ground as fine as weiners at most local butcher shops. And if you eat the bologna from any of these butcher shops then you shouldn't have a hard time with the european weiners as they are the same thing, just a different casing.

Ummm, so? I was not commenting on the ingredients, just my flavour preference.

Good thing you "took the edge off" 'cause it's hardly anything to get worked up about...

In the late 90's I spent 6 months working at Maple Leaf.......I saw what goes into hotdogs, fear not, no lips or nether parts involved. There were 4 stainless steel bins, Grade A meat was in one bin(all destined for Japan) second bin was grade B meat, that was domestic meat intended for our stores. Next was the hot dog bin, meat that didn't quite meet the Grade A and Grade B classification( very fatty), and lastly was the animal food bin where everything else went. So you see hotdogs are not exactly top grade meat but neither are they the parts you folks mentioned Wink

No, some preferences should never be stated....its that quality vs. quantity argument and as we all know that is very subjective territory indeed....too many variables involved in order to make a determination.....other than that, I love to take a big juicy one and smother it with......muahahahahahahaha

My comments weren't aimed at anyone in particular just saying if you think that smokies are a "better" product than weiners you (in general) are sadly mistaken.

I never said they were better...I prefer them to hot dogs. When my hubby goes hunting the sausage he makes will be far superior to any hot dog.

There should be no hysteria regarding lysteria, as it is in all meats. Maple Leaf is very careful as they have to be, because it is a health issue. Cheap ingredients in hot dogs would be reflected in the mix I would imagine. How come Manitoba smoked dogs are considered the very best in taste? They are consistent in their taste.
