NOT CONFIRMED DOUBLE HOMICIDE DURING WEDDING RECEPTION AT POLISH COMBATANTS HALL

There has been sirens galore going up Main Street now for almost two hours...... got reportage from daughter who had stopped to see the fuss and got the info from the CTV crew that there were two persons killed at a wedding reception held at the Polish
Combatants Hall...if so that is 18 homicides thus far for this year.

I wonder if the mother in laws went at it.

Such a peaceful city we live in.

Caught a bit of the news on OB and there was a shooting at Club 13 on Main (not sure if this is the same place) and there were injuries, but didn`t catch anything about fatalities

Two shot as wedding reception turns into nightmare





A
wedding reception for a North End bride and groom turned into a
nightmare late Saturday when gunmen burst through a rear entrance of a
Main Street club and sprayed at least three bullets into the crowd of
guests. The gunfire struck a 50 year-old woman in the head as she and
her boyfriend perused raffle prizes.
There have been no arrests.

Winnipeg Police Sgt. Gordon Gold said the woman is in critical
condition, while a man witnesses identified as the woman’s boyfriend is
in hospital with a gunshot to one of his limbs.
The terrifying incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. at Club 13 – a
hall where newlyweds witnesses identified as "Jason and Angel"
exchanged vows and were to celebrate with a blowout party with friends
and family.
Instead, Main Street was abuzz with swarms of police cruisers who taped
off the immediate area and loaded about 70 wedding guests onto city
transit buses to take statements.
The bride’s brother Trevor Raven said his sister is "traumatized" by the violence that erupted on her wedding day.
The distraught bride stood outside the club in her white gown, before
police escorted her past the yellow tape to a nearby cruiser.
"We just heart the gunshots and she went down. Then the guy – he got
hit and he (slumped) over," said Raven, who was standing next to the
woman who was shot.
Raven’s wife Sheila Sinclair ran over to check the woman’s pulse and
said another guest started to administer CPR before paramedics arrived.

Stunned guest Gail Kwyeriga said she first mistook the sound of gunfire
for balloons popping, and ducked to the floor when she realized people
were hurt.
"I just wanted to know where my kids were. We all huddled down on the floor," Kwyeriga said.
A bullet grazed the back of another woman’s leg. Sandra, who preferred
to keep her last name anonymous, lifted up a pant leg to reveal a red
burn hole from the shot that struck her leg.
"I felt it and I knew I was shot," she said. "It just burned. I was freaking out. I didn’t know what was happening."

When I attended Saturday night weddings up at Fisher Branch this was normal, and wasn't even worthy of a report. Today's celebrants are so wishy washy, and the only reason this gets mentioned is because it is in the real North End!
The big importance in this post is the fact that MizP has a MizP junior! Now that is interesting!

Can someone confirm the location of this shooting. I checked on the dark side and its apparent that such an event could not have occurred in the North End.

I find the title of the locale to be ironic......Combatants Hall....we were chuckling about it last night.....black humour.....sorry.

I kind of doubt that the combatants were Polish though.

There is another press conference coming. Maybe at the same time as the press conference for the police shooting on Mountain. Or... Maybe the chiefs are too busy at the new head chief election.
