Yesterday, a co worker had to leave work because his father had some heart issues, he went to Concordia and waited 8 hours before being told they cant get a heart specialist so they were gonna transfer him to HSC.

They get to HSC at 2am ish. The man was left lying on a gurney in the hallway to die. My co-worker complained to the nurses on duty, and you will never guess what they told him.

They told him to blame the government and that they were underpaid. Meanwhile his father, who worked hard and paid his taxes all his life, dies in a hallway because a lot of the rooms are occupied by drug abusers, drunken bums and the dregs of society. (this is fact, my co-worker watched ambulance after ambulance come in, all wheeling drunks and fricked up Gang Bangers)

But this is ok, this is what this man paid taxes for all his life. He paid those taxes so that people with no responsibility could have a hospital room when they are pissed up and he lay dying on a gurney in a hallway.

Who would I blame in all this. well where to start.
1. I blame each and every government for the past 50 years.
2. I blame unions.
3. I blame provincial governments of the past 40 years.
4. I blame the loud mouthed Chiefs, who should be furious about the state of their youth, but instead only b1tch and complain when someone dies or when someone messes with their entitlement.
5. I blame our society, grow a set to balls and lets put an end to this bullshit before it is too late.

Sorry, I had to rant. Nothing like coming into work and getting assaulted with huge negativity. And now I've assaulted you all with the negativity, but I feel better now. I can get on with my day.

Get rid of most of the pencil pushers in the health care industry and hire more doctors...not nurses...DOCTORS!!

How?

Someone needs to step up, and do what is right. The public needs to vote such a person into office and then support this person in making the needed changes.

The other 2 options are 1. Status Quo (SNAFU) and 2. Revolution

I know many of such persons...but they will NEVER get elected.

Heck...I would be such a person...but I know I'd NEVER get elected...

Why?

Because the bleeding-heart, whining, "government has to provide for me", left-winged, crybaby, "I'm owed the world", hand-holding liberal/NDP babies outnumber those with any real sense and responsibility!

And all those listed above know that if someone like that gets elected, who would actually DO something...they will mostly be either out of a job, out on the street, or sitting in jail somewhere.

Heck...a huge portion of them would even be put 6-feet-under as tolerance for repeat offenders should be NIL...and all useless cretins like that should just be done away with.

That is about as retarded as it can get.

Why would they not transport him to HSC or St B, where they could actually do something? If I ever have a heart problem, I'd slip the ambulance driver an extra $20 to take me somewhere that they can actually help me.

I'd blame the fact that there are likely only a dozen or so cardiologists in the city, and they likely only keep them on staff at HSC or St.B as Freeman noted above. If one of those guys doesn't show up or is occupied, it's doubtfull one of the others is going to get out of bed at 2am to fill in on call.

It's a waste of time to go to Concordia, Seven Oaks or Grace if your having a real emergency. A truly unfortunate and regrettable storry.

You dont get a choice.. the ambulance takes you to the nearest hospital, no ifs ands or buts.

Livingdead- big mistake- chiefs is spelled , remember i before e , except after c, ?
Your posting becomes less forceful if you don't spell corectly!
Ask GOM to change the set up so you can edit your posts, because GOM has that edit go off after 15 minutes. That doesn't allowyou to make corrections , the way you should be able to.
2 weeks ago I was asked not to spam the system, not to bring back old threads, as I had been doing on the weekends, and I would have removed all those DeanK threads, but I couldn't atone for my behaviour because the edit time had elapsed and also the thumbs down button seems to have disappeared. lol

Thanks.

I like the fact that you have only a small window of time to edit.

That may be true (I've no idea) but you do not need a cardiologist to treat you when experiencing heart problems in an ER.

I also struggle believing anyone complaining about chest pain is shunted to the corridor. There are priorities in ERs and all life threatening issues are almost immediately addressed.

I can tell you that I too have experienced the joys of the hallway. My Mom was placed in the hallway more times then I'd care to remember and she was considered a priority. She spent almost 4 days in the hall one time. Our system is seriously flawed and needs an overhaul.

I remember having a dream once about 10 years ago that there was this great and benevolent leader who promised "no more hallway medicine." The people voted him in with a big majority so that he could do what it took to fix the medical system and make the world a better place.

I don't remember how it ended, but boy I had crazy dreams back then. Shouldn't have done so many drugs.

Actually it's not the nearest always. It depends on various circumstances. Ambulances are regularly sent to farther hospitals.

If the Health Science Center and the St. B are jammed, you may be taken to the Misery or the Vic.

But, you're right....you don't get a choice.

That is not likely to happen.
Too many Manitoba voters want their governments to look after them from cradle to grave. Sad
