It's likely a ballpark figure some bureaucrat posited based on X miles of roads needs Y amount of upgrades.

A list should be posted on the city website that identifies what needs done, where it is located, how much it will cost and when it is scheduled. There might even be a prioritization number.

That is transparent government and allows input to help in prioritizing such things.

well the hansard on it from Juen 24 is all sorts of fun to read, but it does not have the actual report. But A few of the councillors have little gems of information hidden in their ramblings...

The report is set to go to EPC today, sometimes reports to EPC are made public, often they are kept in confidence until going to the whole council.

I would guess that they don't want to release any details on which roads need what, because when the politicians interfere with what the engineers and officials have said, they don't have to explain why certain streets are being redone as compared to the ones that actually need the repairs.

Just like verything else at City Hall, I bet these decisions are based on political considerations as compared to practical and real considerations.

I know the full list of streets and their repair state was released in 2005 or 2006. If that was followed or not, I have no idea.

I think Freeman has hit the nail on the head. I could list a many many roads that have been or are in the midst of being repaired that really don't need to be, some less than 5 years old in construction, yet there are roads that are in dire need of repair that are only being patched and are not even on the engineering department's radar for major repair for the next 10 years.

There is a list of roads in order of priority! How to get it? Ask Sammy for it and I bet you your inquiry will be looked after!
My daughter's back lane is so bad you have to go at 5KMH to go through it, which to her is great because it is safer!
