Sorta' like the Americans over-reacted on the Alberta mad-cow thing a few years back. It is back-handed trade barriers IMO.

thats what I want to know... what with people being scared of pigs... price has to go down even further.

soo.. does anyone buy maple leaf products yet? or do you still shun them for competition products?

When the mad cow hullaballoo happened the beef prices did not go down....what went down however was the per pound price at auctions....the large supermarket chains and abbatoirs/processors have the final say in pricing....I prefer to buy my meat products direct from the producer even though our government says it is illegal for a farmer to sell his or her own products direct to the consumer.

Most of our meat products are processed in Alberta.

Same thing over here. Prices actually went up, and the meat products became more "certified" but most of it ended up who-knows-where, since very few people bought the once-beef, once-chicken endangered meats.
Pork is already at an all-time low for the producers. The stores are keeping their prices up. Speculation will take over for pharmaceuticals now...
I'm tired... I hope I made some "cents" in my post...

The two men were isolated and examined, said David Paulson, director of communications for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters said they simply had too much to drink.

I'm sorry but if only 150ish people in Mexico City have died from this supposed epidemic that is a very small percentage considering the population or Mexico City is well over 8 million people. Listened to a doctor from the CDC out of Atlanta on CNN this morning and every year about 36,000 Americans die from the "flu" so this is a media event, not a health event. And one other warning that is being slipped to the end most reports, if you haven't developed symptoms within 4 days of returning from or being in contact with someone who was in Mexico you are pretty much safe from becoming ill.

What makes this flu an event is the possibility of mutation of the virus itself and the fact that most of the Mexican victims were young folks in their 20's.

yeah city is 8 mil.. but surronding metro makes it up to 20+ million. Or more then half the population of Canada. to put the 150ish in even more perspective.

I have driven through Mexico City (Distrito Federale) and it took over four hours to do so and that was on a Sunday. Some estimates put the unofficial population at closer to 30 million....either way that city is a disaster in teh making. the pollution alone would be enough to breed any viral mutation. It's elevation makes one more prone to radiation from the sun. The soupy air that folks have to breathe.....the last time I was there I was sick within the day and that was in fall 0f 2007, a time of year when the air is cooler and there are more breezes.
