Might as well start a thread with the flu...
What do you think of the press coverage so far and do you think this flu can become pandemic?
Should more precautions be put in effect?
Sky News UK is taking it seriously, excellent coverage.
New cases in Spain also.

I think many did not take SARS seriously. No harm in taking this seriously, until such time as a vaccine is developed or it is proven the Swine Flu is not serious. The Winnipeg lab is testing many of the Mexican cases and it looks pretty serious right now.

A vaccine can be created 4 months after the virus stabilizes. It is still in a new mutant form. H1N1.
Italian TV is censoring the fact that there are 3 cases in Spain, saying that there are absolutely NO cases in Europe, yet.
The H1N5 strain of bird flu in the meantime has over 300000 cases in China.
If these get out of hand, we better hope the world's nuclear power plants get shut down properly, before it's too late...
Six confirmed cases in Canada.

I see that people are still fearful of their god. Thats a good thing I guess. But you would think that they know God is all powerful and can get them no matter where they hide. ( talk about an abandonement of their faith by cancelling services )

We could use a pandemic to get back in the papers. All we are getting is 68 killed. 40 killed from Iraq. Thank goodness Bush solved the problem there years ago!
The sickness sems to be spreading to Toronto. Serves them right. More Toronto citizens go to mexico on vacation. They should all get sick for 5 weeks!

This morning's new said there were 1600 dead in Mexico. I'd say we officially have something to worry about.

The BBC are saying
"On Sunday, Mexican Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova said suspected swine flu cases in his country had risen to 1,614.
Of the 103 deaths in Mexico, only 20 are so far confirmed to have been caused by the new virus. "
Still worried?

Yeah, listened to the same report on the drive in and it did say 1600 cases... Oops.

And yeah, with many cases now reported in Canada, albeit a milder strain, we should be a little worried.

Irony that most places are trying to keep this flu out of their city, but todays press is boasting how the virology lab in Winnipeg is up to their necks in it (figuratively speaking)

Those folks do good work.

notdead but infected.....over 100 dead.....

i am very concerned about this virus being that I am in a high risk group by virtue of having immune systems issues.....for years I have castigated folks who sneeze and cough near me without having the courtesy to cover their noses and mouths.....and spitting.....how disgusting.

A little guy gets on a plane and sits next to the window. A while later , a big , strong , mean-looking guy plops down in the seat next to him , and immediately falls asleep.
The little guy starts to feel a little airsick , but he’s afraid to wake the big guy up so he can go to the bathroom. He knows he can’t climb over him , so he just sits there , looks at the big guy and tries to decide what to do.
Suddenly , the plane hits an air pocket and an uncontrollable wave of nausea passes thru the little guy. He can’t hold it any longer and he pukes all over the big guy’s chest. Then , the big guy wakes up , looks down and sees the vomit all over him. "So", Says the little guy," are you feeling better now"?)

Mexico: Suspected swine flu deaths climb to 149

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova says the government lacks the staff needed to visit the homes of everyone suspected of dying from swine flu.
Cordova says the suspected death toll has climbed to 149, with 20 of those cases confirmed to be from swine flu. He says the government expects the death toll to keep rising.
He says 1,995 people have been hospitalized with serious cases of pneumonia since the first case of swine flu was reported on April 13. The government does not yet know how many were swine flu.
Of those hospitalized, 1,070 have been released.
Cordova says school at all levels nationwide are suspended until May 6. Schools had already been suspended in Mexico City and five of Mexico's 32 states.

It is interesting to see that the Mexicans are staying away from church. It is obvious to me, that they blame G-d for this!
There are about 15,000 Mexican workers that come up to work in the marihuana and farmers farms. I bet you they won't get in!
Maybe we can get some unemployed in Canada to do the work? I wonder what the working conditions are like? Any one no?
