yup there are several different co-ops. Most of the ones outside the city included ALL PURCHASES in the rebates so them teaming up with the Winnipeg based Red River ones would not work well.

want to save on tirs or some other more expensive purchase big time? Go get a membership at one of the co-ops outside the city, check the prices and get your rebate

Even if Co-op charges the same price at the pump as everyone else,
at least they kick back a few bucks to the purchasers at the end of the year.

Do any of their competitors (Esso, Shell, Petro Canada, etc.) pay dividends to their customers?

I do not know why EVERYONE is not a Coop member Question

Most gas stations have some sort of loyalty plan:

Esso = aeroplan//hbc points
Shell = air miles
Petro Can = petro points
Mohawk/Husky = CAA dolalrs
CDN Tire = CDN Tire $$/coupons
Safeway/Superstore = Store coupons

Red River Coop encourages members to patronize other co-ops when traveling out of the area, and they encourage their members to patronize our when in Winnipeg.

Gimli Co-op is part of Red River, but Lorette is not. Weird.

Financially how does 12.5 cents per litre compare to these non-coop loyalty plans?
Besides how many people actually cash out the loyalty points they have accumulated?
At least the co-ops cut you a cheque at the end of the year.

financially there are not even close.

Shell for instance.. gives 1 air mile per 20 dollars spent... 1 air mile costs them 25 cents.

Yes but it is the consumer info they get from it that they want . I have got my camera and printer from Airmiles so some people do use them .

That's how I got my cappucino machine. It was the most "expensive" cappucino machine I ever bought, once you factor in how much I had to spend in order to accumulate the necessary points Smile

Yup!

Sort of like winning $100 at the casino, after losing $5000 over time! Laughing

Not sure what the boundary is but I do remember getting gas at a coop in Brandon and they did not take my membership number as they are not a Red River Coop site and neither is Morris for that matter.

Neither is the one in Beausejour....

Holy sh1t, can't believe the argument in this thread. OK, Airt got his free cappucino machine, I'm getting 12.5 cents a litre back, someone else got glass ware at Domo, we all made a choice. If you don't like my choice, ask me if I care.

And so what if the Coop in Brandon isn't a Red River Coop and I cant use my membership, they're just nice folks there and they get my business.

Last year my cheque wasn't all that big...this year I am hoping for a bigger payout. We fill up both vehicles at Co-op....Smile

We try to patronize the Co-op gas stations in the smaller communities we visit as a rule unless there isn't one there and then we try to pick one that we can use either CAA or airmiles. We also get a fairly good cheque from Co-op as there are 4 vehicles in the family that are using the Co-op number so we then take that cash and split it up accordingly between the 4 vehicles. We choose to use Co-op as it gives back to its members as well as they are one of the few that still give personal service. Everyone makes their choices and most are for personal reasons.

I have a Co-Op 140 steps from my house, so I have started to use them way out in Charleswood. Very convenient! And I am using my daughters number so she will get a really good surprise next year!

It would be nice if they could bring back the Co-op grocery and hardware stores in both Winnipeg and Edmonton to the point where they are as common as the Calgary Co-ops. Their prices are very reasonable compared to Safeway, Sobeys and Save-on-Foods.
