sooo.. can patients start billing the hospitals too?

Will this make you more important if you arrive at the hospital in an ambulance even if you should not be rated more important?

Hospitals should have better triage in place so that people who arrive by ambulance are triaged and then placed in waiting but NOT having to be supervised by the paramedics once they've been triaged.

I've also heard paramedics and ER staff talk about how welfare recipients get free ambulances, so they often use the service really inappropriately. To get to the hospital for something totally non-emergent, or even just to get to the area where a hospital is. It's probably a few bad apples, but it's a widespread enough problem to cause at least some concern.

yup... people from ah.. places outside the city... do that quite routinely apparently.

Start billing "patients" for frivolous ambulance and hospital care requests too. And patients showing up in ER with non-ER issues need to be turned away and shuttled over to the nearest 24hr clinic.

This reporter, Jen Skerrit, hasn't done her job as fully as she should.
400 times in April people are in an ambulance trying to get into the ER, and the hospital triage system is telling them that they aren't sick enough to get in.
The problem to me would appear that someone is calling the $400 fancy taxi service, when it isn't needed!
Where is the report on why the occupants aren't getting in right away? No emergency!!
