Who has tried Chez Cora? I have heard both good and bad things about it and am planning on trying it this weekend. What are some of your faves for breakfast and brunch?

I think you'll really like Cora's goth. The line-ups should tell ya all you need to know. But they have an interesting menu that really appeals to people that don't prefer bacon and eggs. Give it a shot and report back.

I predict you'll like it.

Chez Cora, or Cora's for the Waverley location is fantastic! Probably rivals the crowd the Wagon Wheel saw at lunch today tho. So don't be in a rush is what I'm saying.

I love crepes, savory breakfast crepes, and Cora's - when they are on their mark - do beautiful crepes.

Why not support local restaurants instead and go to Kawaii Crepe on Osborne? That is, if you're after crepes.

Cora's is good but a little pricey and Miz point's comment about them being "their mark" is justified. I find the service/food hit and miss.

I didn't think it was. If it is, I take back the local part of my suggestion. I hear service is so-so and it's not really dine-in so it may not fit the bill for a brunch.

Franchise may not be the right description but their concept is lifted from Japan.....I remember a few months back when they were first facebooking about the endeavour and was doing some research on it then being that I love crepes so much and I came across the Kawaii term several times over.....well, jsut about anything these days is lifted from something so Anny is right in that it is "local" and that there is not more than one Kawaii at least in Manitoba.

Cora's is what - all over Canada now? I believe they had their beginnings in Quebec?

One of my all time favorite brunches is still the Fort Garry Hotel. Any other decent places for brunch?

That's right.

By local, I just meant Winnipeg imagined, owned, and operated. If original food is a determining factor, hardly any restaurants could be called local!

If you like the Fort Garry, the one at the hotel at the Forks isn't much different.

They don't have the big chocolate fountain, but the spread is similar...and will certainly fill you up.

I heard The Current moved to an a la carte Sunday brunch menu.

I haven't been there for a couple of years. We took my mother-in-law there for mother's day.

This weekend we plan on trying Coras. We both have Monday off as well so hoping it won't be as packed on Monday as it would be on Saturday or Sunday.

The Gates on Roblin is very nice for a Sunday brunch but again can be pricey (adults $28 and kids under 12 $14 under 3 are free).
